The deploying may include: installing a disposable antifouling cover of plastic material on a portion of the marine geophysical survey equipment, wherein the disposable antifouling cover occludes a majority of an exterior surface of the portion of the marine geophysical survey equipment; and placing the marine geophysical survey equipment in a body of water.

Disclosed are methods and systems for controlling spread and/or depth in a geophysical survey. An embodiment discloses a submersible deflector, comprising: an upper portion comprising an upper fin section and upper foils disposed below the upper fin section, wherein at least one slot is defined between the upper foils; and a lower portion coupled to the upper portion and disposed below the upper portion, wherein the lower portion comprises a lower fin section and lower foils disposed above the lower fin section, wherein at least one slot is defined between the lower foils. Also disclosed are marine geophysical survey systems and methods of performing geophysical surveys.

Towing methods and systems for geophysical surveys

A hydrodynamic foil system for a sensor streamer array includes towing equipment coupled to a survey vessel. The towing equipment includes at least one spreader cable extending substantially transversely to a direction of motion of the survey vessel. A plurality of laterally spaced apart sensor streamers is coupled at respective forward ends thereof to the towing equipment. A plurality of foils disposed on the spreader cable, the foils configured to provide hydrodynamic lift in a vertical direction as the at least one spreader cable is moved through the water. The foils are each rotatable about the spreader cable.

Disclosed are methods and systems for towing multiple source cables with spreader lines coupled to the source cables using open collars. An example system for multi-cable towing may comprise a plurality of source cables coupled to a survey vessel. The example system may further comprise a plurality of energy sources, wherein each o the energy sources is coupled to a respective one of the source cables. The example system may further comprise a plurality of spreader lines extending between the source cables. The example system may further comprise a plurality of open collars coupling the spreader lines to the source cables, wherein the open collars are slidably coupled to the source cables.

A hydrodynamic foil system for a sensor streamer array includes at least two tow ropes each coupled at one end to a survey vessel and at the other end to a paravane. the paravanes configured to provide lateral outward force as the vessel and paravanes are moved through a body of water. A spreader cable is coupled to each of the paravanes. A plurality of laterally spaced apart sensor streamers coupled at forward ends thereof to the spreader cable. A plurality of foils is disposed on the spreader cables. The foils configured to provide hydrodynamic lift in a vertical direction as the spreader cables are moved through the water.

Disclosed are methods and systems for controlling spread and/or depth in a geophysical survey. An embodiment discloses a method for geophysical surveying, comprising: towing two streamers laterally spaced apart through a body of water at a depth of at least about 25 meters, each of the streamers comprising geophysical sensors disposed thereon at spaced apart locations; maintaining lateral separation of at least about 150 meters between the two streamers using at least two submersible deflectors, the two submersible deflectors being individually coupled to one of the two streamers; and detecting signals using the two geophysical sensors while the two streamers are towed at the depth of at least about 25 meters.

Techniques are disclosed relating to using a remote operated vehicle (ROV) to facilitate cleaning of a submerged geophysical equipment (e.g., a streamer) being towed behind a tow vessel. The ROV may, in one embodiment, attach a streamer cleaning unit (SCU) to the streamer, where the SCU is configured to clean the streamer. In another embodiment, the ROV may facilitate cleaning by cleaning the streamer itself using a cleaning attachment coupled to the ROV.

Method and apparatus to facilitate cleaning marine survey equipment

A streamer cleaning device includes a plurality of cleaning modules affixed to a main frame in angularly spaced apart orientation. At least one cleaning module includes a drive wheel rotationally coupled to a cleaning element. At least one cleaning module includes a guide mounted thereon. The guide is configured to deflect devices mounted on the streamer out of a path traversed by the cleaning modules. At least one of the cleaning modules comprises a device for conversion of motion of water past the at least one cleaning module into rotational energy to drive the drive wheel thereon.

Self propelled cleaning device for marine streamers

A marine electromagnetic receiver cable includes a plurality of signal processing modules disposed at spaced apart locations along the receiver cable. A power supply line is connected to each of the signal processing modules and to an electric current source. A current regulation device is connected in the power supply line proximate each signal processing module. The current regulation devices are connected such that an amount of current flowing through the power supply line is substantially constant. At least one electromagnetic receiver is functionally coupled to an input of each signal processing module.

A seismic data acquisition telemetry system includes a seismic vessel including a data recording system thereon. The system includes a seismic data gathering unit in operative connection with at least one seismic sensor. The system includes a first antenna disposed on the seismic vessel and a second antenna disposed on the data gathering unit, at least one of said first and second antennas being directional. Means are included for orienting a sensitive direction of the directionally sensitive antenna toward the other of said first and second antennas.

System and method for wireless data collection from seismic recording buoys

A cleaning device for a seismic streamer includes a housing placeable the exterior of the streamer. A turbine is associated with the housing and is configured to be rotationally driven by movement of the streamer through a body of water. A drive element is associated with the housing and is configured to convert rotational motion of the turbine to motive power to move the housing along the streamer. At least one cleaning element is associated with the housing and is cooperatively engaged with the exterior of the seismic streamer. A method for cleaning a streamer includes towing the streamer through the water. Motion of water is converted into motive power to move a cleaning device along the streamer.
