Lug block of a line stab unit

A stab for use in a plug-in assembly includes a stab piece and a lug. The stab piece includes one or more contact arms configured to engage a bus bar, and a base portion coupled to the one or more contact arms. The base portion is configured to be coupled to a stab shaft for rotating the stab about a rotational axis to transition the stab from a retracted position to an extended position. The lug is coupled to the stab piece and configured to receive wire for transmitting power from the bus bar to an electrical component. The lug is configured to be deformed around the wire to hold the wire when a crimping force is applied to the lug. The lug is configured to hold the wire at a position approximately centered on a rotational axis of the stab shaft when the lug is deformed by the crimping force.

System and method for transmitting power through a plug-in unit

An underwater light that can include a mounting assembly attachable to a pool wall without having to make a niche in the wall, a housing coupled to the mounting assembly and including a light source cavity, a reflector in the light source cavity, a light source in front of the reflector, and a lens in front of the light source. The lens can include a plurality of contiguous parallel concave lens elements extending in a single direction to disperse light perpendicular to the single direction. The underwater light can include a removable lens cover that is at least one of red, green, yellow, and blue, in order to shine colored light into the pool.

A float actuated water level control valve has a sliding valve tube depending from a float to meter the amount of water flow through the valve proportionally in response to the position of the float. The valve is especially useful for controlling the water level in an aquarium overflow filter system. The valve inlet has an adjustable flow area which is defined as the area between a lower edge of the sliding valve tube and an upper edge of a drain. The configuration of the lower edge of the sliding valve tube and the upper edge of the drain are selected to provide increased flow area linear to the position of the float. The valve inlet is submerged, and drain gurgling sounds are thereby muffled. In addition, the valve maintains the water level within the reservoir at a height above the valve inlet, which is especially useful for reducing splashing sounds from water spilling over an overflow wall in an aquarium.

A vivarium is provided with simplified retention of a top cover. The vivarium has four sidewalls with an upper border frame that extends along the top of the sidewalls. A flange extends laterally from the upper border frame towards the interior, to provide a support surface for the top cover. Slide lock handles are slidably attached to the front edge of the top cover to make it easy to open the top cover, and for securing the top cover in a closed, locked position. The slide lock handles may be slid along the front edge of the top cover to engage the flange and lock the top cover in place. S-clamps are attached to the rear, right, and left edges of the top cover and to the flange extending from the upper border frame to secure the top cover to the vivarium.

An aquarium overflow filter system having a pre-overflow wall with openings therein improves circulation of water throughout the aquarium tank. The overflow filter system includes an overflow wall that separates the tank into a main aquarium region and a filter intake region. An intake for a wet/dry filter is located within the filter intake region. A pre-overflow wall located outside of the filter intake region encases at least part of the overflow wall to create a mixing chamber therebetween. Openings in the pre-overflow wall allow water to flow through the pre-overflow wall into the mixing chamber. The openings in the pre-overflow wall can be strategically placed to attain a desired circulation pattern within the aquarium. Water pressure at lower openings in the pre-overflow wall tends to move water upward through the mixing chamber, thus water from all the openings eventually flows over the top of the overflow wall into the filter intake region. The invention can be used to improve filtration circulation and the ability to pick up suspended debris off the bottom of the tank. The invention can also provide more natural flow patterns throughout the aquarium.

A pivoting safety apparatus is adapted for mounting on a motor vehicle. The safety apparatus comprises a housing for mounting on the motor vehicle and a safety device pivotally coupled with the housing for movement about an axis between a retracted position and an extended position. An actuator at least partially located within the housing is comprised of an air cylinder having a piston arm extending from a piston and coupled to the safety device for movement of the safety device about the pivot axis in response to variations from atmospheric pressure of air within the air cylinder. An air pressure adjuster comprised of an electrically powered air compressor, a fluid coupling extending between the air compressor and the air cylinder, and an electrically operated valve is employed for altering the air pressure within the air cylinder to move the piston, the piston arm, and the safety device. In a preferred embodiment, a pressure sensor senses the pressure within the air pressure adjuster and causes the air compressor to stop operating when a predetermined pressure is sensed.

Air operated pivoting safety apparatus for vehicle

An electrically operated, air-driven pivotal sign device includes a housing and a sign assembly pivotally mounted to the housing. Within the housing, an electrically driven air compressor is pneumatically coupled through tubing and a three-way, electrically controlled valve, to a spring return type air cylinder coupled with a shaft from the pivotable sign assembly. Current supplied through a single wire to the device activates the compressor and closes the valve to atmosphere permitting pressurization of the air cylinder. The compressor is shut off automatically when the sign assembly is deployed. The sign assembly remains deployed until current is cut off to the valve, which causes the valve to vent the pneumatic coupling to atmosphere. The single wire also supplies current to a flasher device within the housing which flashes lights provided on the sign assembly simultanously with the pivotal deployment of the sign assembly.
