A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a controller can be operable to generate a target list of subscribers by filtering a list of potential target users of an application existing on a source device by removing target subscribers from the target list of subscribers according to selection criteria. The controller can be further operable to transmit to devices of the target list of subscribers content associated with the application that when accessed invites the target list of subscribers to use the application, and to provision the application on at least one device associated with the target list of subscribers. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Method and system for application provisioning

In a mobile communications system a visiting location register (VLR) associated with a switching center receives an address of an external control component and a service identifier identifying a service to be performed by the external control component from a home location register (HLR) associated with a mobile communications device. When a customer care call from the mobile communications device is received at the switching center, the switching center suspends call processing and queries the external control component utilizing the address from the VLR. The external control component performs the service indicated by the service indicator and determines a translation for the customer care call and returns information to the switching center for routing the call according to the translation. The translation may be determined at least in part according to the service performed by the external control component. The translation may be determined at least in part according to one or more of time of day, day of week, location of the switching center, or NPA-Nxx. The service indicator and address of the external control component may be provided by the HLR in Dialed CAMEL Subscription Information (D-CSI) associated with the mobile communication device.

Intelligent customer care support

Systems and methods are presented for a user-initiated process by which a voice mail retrieval number and/or voice mail deposit number can be reset without requiring the assistance of network customer support staff. In an exemplary embodiment, a voice mail retrieval number reset request can be in the form of a MAP-USSD message which, when received by a voice mail reset system results in the storage of the voice mail retrieval number at the communication device by over-the-air programming techniques. Likewise, a voice mail deposit number reset request can be in the form of a MAP-USSD message. The voice mail deposit number can be reset at an HLR by an ATM operation or a MAP-USSD message. In a further embodiment, the VMDN can be reset by sending an FSM message to the communication device.

User initiated voice mail reset system

A mobile communications system stores an address of an external control component and a service indicator indicating a service to be performed by the external control component. The service indicator and address of the external control component may be Network CAMEL Subscription Information (N-CSI) stored by the switching center. In response to detecting a customer care call from a mobile communications device, the switching center suspends call processing and queries the external control component utilizing the stored address. The external control component performs the service indicated by the service indicator and determines how to continue processing the customer care call in accordance therewith. The service performed by the external control component determines a translation for the customer care call and the external control component returns information to the switching center for routing the call according to the translation. In an embodiment the translation is determined at least in part according to an International Mobile Subscriber Identifier (IMSI) associated with the mobile communications device. The translation may also be determined, at least in part, according to one or more of time of day, day of week, and location of the switching center.
