A passive amplifier for use with enhanced power supplies, signal preamplifiers and power amplifiers in communications systems particularly in mobile phones, laptop computers and other battery-powered and battery-limited devices. The passive amplifier can be used as an attachment to electric appliances or other power consuming equipment to significantly reduce the electric power requirements of such equipment. These passive amplifiers do not require an outside source of power and can be used to elevate battery power outputs and serve as either low noise signal preamplifiers or transmit power amplifiers for higher performance and extended battery life. Passive amplifier technology is either electromagnetic or dielectric in nature with component parts limited to inductive, capacitive and resistive components. Dielectric amplifier prototypes have gain values in the range of the 10 dB level so as to be useful in communications applications and power amplification.

Passive amplifier

The present invention relates to a method of generating hydrogen or oxygen from an aqueous solution within a flow cell by applying a high frequency AC signal to the flow cell. The present invention further relates to an apparatus for generating hydrogen or oxygen from an aqueous solution, and a method of generating hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous solution.

Electroionic generation of hydrogen or oxygen from an aqueous solution

An antenna and associated magnetic preamplifier for use with UHF and Microwave wireless telecommunications devices operating at frequencies of greater than 0.3 gigahertz. The antenna may include a plurality of concentric loops about a core. The antenna may be made of a conductor wound helically about an air core with a circumference and a number of loops, and the spacing of the loops chosen based on the desired frequency of communication. The antenna may include a plurality of loops of conductor about a core with a ferrite rod positioned within the core. The antenna may be omnidirectional and provide a high gain at the desired frequency of communication. The magnetic preamplifiers may be based on either resonant or ferrite material-enhanced amplification. Resonant and ferrite enhancements may also be used in combination.

High gain antenna and magnetic preamplifier

The present invention relates to an electroionic apparatus for treating an aqueous solution, including a flow cell through which the aqueous solution may flow, and a high frequency AC power source. A pair of electrodes within the flow cell are in contact with the aqueous solution and coupled to the AC power source. The AC power source generates a signal that is transmitted to the electrodes to generate an electromagnetic field and an ionic current within the aqueous solution in the flow cell. Each electrode includes a plurality of perforations defined through the plate electrode. Electrodes within the flow cell may be formed of materials having a catalytic effect upon the electroionic reactions within the flow cell.

The present invention provides an electroionic processing system having a high frequency alternating current (AC) power source for treating potable water, process water, wastewater, biosolids, sludge, primary effluent, secondary effluent, and other biochemical processing functions, including producing hydrogen peroxide and other useful chemicals. An electromagnetic field is generated and coupled to an electrolytic treatment apparatus by a direct coupling apparatus and method, a capacitive coupling apparatus and method, and an inductive coupling apparatus and method. The present invention further comprises a process controller and a plurality of analyzers for monitoring various treatment process variables to adjust and optimize the process as necessary.

Electroionic processing system

This invention relates to a method and apparatus for the disinfection of water and wastewater contaminated with bacteria and other microorganisms. The apparatus includes an electrolytic flow cell including electrodes forming a part of flow pipe or open channel through which water or wastewater passes. The electrodes are formed of iron, stainless steel, carbon or copper and connected to a power supply voltage in the range of 20 to 100 volts and establishing a current in the range of 1 to 6 amperes. Disinfection results from either metal ions impacting microbial cells or through the generation of hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radicals and hypochlorous acid. When the electrodes are copper, toxic metal contamination limits are established through proper design of the flow cell. An ultrasonic transducer is connected to the electrodes and enhances hydroxyl radical generation.

Electroionic water disinfection apparatus

A computer-based instrument to produce a 'number' for heart performance parameters and a positive-negative diagnosis of myocardial ischemia. A seismic sensor captures a substantial series of SCG waveforms within a short time frame. Digitized waveforms are created and processed to create signals in the range of 0 to 50 hertz and 0 to 100 hertz. The waveform are processed in the time domain. The 0 to 100 hertz signal is processed to determine the heart rate which is pulse adjusted and interpolated. The SCG waveforms are processed to synchronize the start point of each waveform. The 0 to 50 hertz signal is then processed for signal segmentation to produce waveform signals, each a heart beat or period in length. The segmented signals are then processed to produce linear prediction analysis (LPA) coefficients. The coefficients establish a numerical model-based representation of the waveform. The LPA coefficients in combination contain all of the information resident in the original SCG waveform. For myocardial ischemia analysis, proper LPA coefficients are used in a pattern recognition algorithm to determine a classification of the patent's waveforms as either normal or ischemic. The Bayesian decision classifier provides an analytical framework and program for classification of SCG waveforms as represented by the LPA coefficients for myocardial ischemia, or other cardiac disease conditions represented in the SCG waveform, and produces a direct negative or positive output. For various cardiac performance parameters, estimation rather than a classification algorithm is used such as a K-Nearest Neighbor pattern recognition technology, and multiple regression estimators and produces estimation for different parameters.

Automated seismic detection of myocardial ischemia and related

A number of optically active elements are provided that enable the performance of accurate, dependable chemical analysis in a medium having varying matrix backgrounds and substantial component interferences. Optical transfer cells are provided that include positive correlation filter systems adapted to accept near-IR radiation and to pass a wavelength from that radiation having high correlation with a particular analyte. A near-IR spectrometer apparatus for the measurement of analyte concentration in a complex medium is also provided. The apparatus features an optical transfer cell constructed according to the invention. The apparatus can be used in the non-invasive determination of blood analyte concentrations in a variety of mediums. Methods of measuring the concentration of a blood analyte in a mammalian subject are also provided. The methods entail the use of reflective near-IR radiation to interrogate a medium to obtain spectrally modified radiation. The radiation thus obtained is passed through an optical transfer cell constructed according to the invention to obtain a wavelength having high correlation with an analyte of interest and substantially no correlation with interfering constituents present in the medium.

Positive correlation filter systems and methods of use thereof

A method and apparatus of atomic emission spectrometry includes confining a solution within an emission chamber for on-line analysis or individual sample analysis. An electrical discharge created within the liquid to directly excite an internal portion of the liquid within the liquid solution. The atomic emission is totally enclosed within a liquid solution pocket. A fiber optic probe is connected directly to the excited internal portion within the liquid and to a suitable analyzer which analyzes the atomic spectral lines to determine the atomic elements within the liquid solution. The system can be used for individual element analysis or a multiple element analysis by use of an array spectrometer, with a simultaneous display of the complete atomic spectrum of multiple elements in a liquid solution, all in less than a period of one second. In an on-line system, the liquid sample flows through the emission chamber with the electrical discharge created as time spaced discharges which are subsequently integrated by the analyzer to produce individual element related signals.

Atomic emission spectrometry

The present invention is directed to a novel method for analyzing aqueous systems to simultaneously quantify the concentrations of multiple active or inactive treating components which may be contained therein. The method comprises determining the absorbance or emission spectrum of the components in the aqueous system over the wavelength range of from 200 to 2500 nm, and then applying chemometrics algorithms to extract and analyze features in the spectrum that are specific to the qualitative and quantitative concentrations from the specific components to simultaneously determine the concentrations of the components.

Spectrophotometric monitoring of multiple water treatment performance

A fluorescence decay time method and apparatus directly measuring the time decay function resulting from a plurality of fluorescing bodies, including background, and analytically determines the presence and concentration of the fluorescing bodies homogeneously and simultaneously is disclosed. The fluorescently labelled reaction product of a target ligand, such as an antigen, with a binding molecule for the ligand, such as an antibody, exhibits a fluorescent decay time curve which bears a direct straight line relationship to the concentration of the target antigen, in that the value for fluorescent intensity at time zero for the decay time curve is a measure of said concentration. The time zero intensity is proportional to the concentration of the target ligand in the unknown sample which can then be compared to the concentrations from a standard curve.
