Smoke detector

A smoke alarm includes a housing having a generally hollow interior, a printed circuit board arranged within the interior of the housing, and an optical chamber assembly connected to the printed circuit board. The optical chamber assembly has an interior chamber and at least one smoke entry location. A substantial entirety of the interior chamber is external to the housing. At least one light device for evaluating particles is arranged within an interior chamber of the optical chamber assembly.

A dome lens extending upwardly about a center axis A and outwardly in a radial direction R, having: a first portion forming a first annular ring about the center axis A that includes a first inner surface that is convex, and being oriented so that a first tangent to the first inner surface is at a first angle to the center axis A that is less than forty-five degrees; a second portion being continuous with the first portion and forming a second annular ring about the center axis A and including a second inner surface that is convex, and being oriented so a second tangent to the second inner surface is canted toward the center axis A; a third portion being continuous with the second portion to enclose the lens, forming an annular solid disk about the center axis A, and including a third inner surface that is convex.

A detection chamber assembly of a smoke detector is provided. The detection chamber assembly includes upper and lower covers, louvers and a corrugated bug screen. The louvers are arranged with the upper and lower covers to define a chamber bound between the upper and lower covers and the louvers. The louvers include a first pair of louvers defining a first space therebetween to permit fluidic ingress to the chamber and a second pair of louvers defining a second space therebetween to permit fluidic ingress to the chamber. The second space is wider than the first space. The corrugated bug screen includes a body disposed about the louvers and a mesh corrugation feature coupled to the body at the second space to permit fluidic ingress to the chamber at the second space and to inhibit bug ingress to the chamber at the second space.
