An integral collector-distributor device including chimney hats and adapted for use in a gas-liquid exchange column to promote radial mixing of a liquid on a distributor tray surface. The collector-distributor device includes a tray having a tray surface adapted to extend generally horizontally across the cross-sectional area of the column to collect downwardly flowing liquid. A plurality of gas risers on the tray permit the upward movement of an upwardly flowing gas through the tray, and a plurality of liquid distributors permit the generally uniform distribution of the collected downwardly flowing liquid to a lower section of the column. A plurality of chimney hats, each having an upper surface and a one and other end, extend over and above at least a portion of the gas risers, are angularly inclined from the horizontal, or are horizontal, collect downwardly flowing liquid on the upper surface and permit the collected liquid on the upper surface to flow away from the point of liquid collection to another section of the tray to promote improved liquid mixing across the tray surface and to reduce liquid concentration gradients on the tray surface. The chimney hats are of a selected width, wider that the width of the gas risers, to provide for minimal space between each adjacent chimney hat. The wide chimney hats, particularly where horizontal, may also be of different selected vertical heights to permit the upward flow of gas.

Liquid collector-distributor device, system and method

A mist eliminator for removing liquid droplets from a gas stream, which includes a plurality of impingement baffles, the baffles having a profile including a short inlet section, a lower angled section, a short interconnecting section, an upper angled section, and a short outlet section, the length of the lower angled section longer than the upper angled section, the upper angled section having a greater angular inclination than the lower angled section, thereby providing for a mist eliminator for use in a gas.-liquid contact column of higher gas throughput, low pressure drop, moderate removal efficiency, and low manufacturing cost, which is easily cleaned, and particularly adapted for wet scrubbing processes.

Chevron type mist eliminator and system

A saddle-type random packing element for use in a vapor-liquid tower which packing comprises an arcuate body having generally parallel, upright flanges on either side, the arcuate body having a plurality of alternating, generally parallel, inner and outer arched rib elements extending transversely between the flanges. The method of manufacture of the packing element comprises slitting a flat metal sheet to form rib elements, bending the sheet to form the upright flanges, the arched rib elements and then into the arcuate shape of the packing.

Random packing element and method

A mechanical concrete drill system is provided which is capable of drilling holes in concrete curbs, walls, and the like, while being permanently mounted to a truck. A hydraulic lift system contained in the truck moves the drill system vertically, so that the drill can be operated in various vertical positions. The drill system is conveniently stored in the truck for movement to other drill sites.

A variegated density mist eliminator pad for use in gas-liquid contacting devices for the removal of mists from a mist-containing gas stream which pad comprises a plurality of fibrous elements such as a knitted or woven mesh having open areas for the flow of the gas stream therethrough and characterized by defined adjacent regions of different, i.e. high and low, fiber density with the direction of density variation generally perpendicular to the direction of gas flow, the high density region within the pad permitting enhanced drainage of coalesced liquid, and a method of preparing the high and low density regions through a nesting and non-nesting relationship of fibrous layers.

An expanded metal random packing for use in gas-liquid or liquid-liquid contact devices, which packing comprises: a longitudinal strip of expanded metal characterized by a plurality of generally uniformly disposed and defined spaces, the spaces defined by a plurality of struts hav ing a one and an other end, and the ends of said longitudinal strip disposed inwardly about a vertical axis to form a partial or fully enclosed body of an expanded metal random packing.
