A blood pressure measuring apparatus includes an inflatable sleeve socket that is capable of receiving an engagement portion of a compact gage housing having either a contained mechanical or an electronic pressure gauge. This coupling permits direct attachment to the sleeve and permitting fluid interconnection between the interior of the sleeve and the contained pressure gauge without requiring any hoses or tubing therebetween. The electronic pressure gauge is responsive to changes in pressure within the inflatable sleeve. The pressure changes can be processed and output to an integral display or can be wirelessly transmitted.

Blood pressure measuring apparatus

A method in which thermal mass and manufacturing differences are compensated for in thermometry probes by storing characteristic data relating to individual probes into an EEPROM for each probe which is used by the temperature apparatus.

Thermometry probe calibration method

An improved two loop capacitive sensor oscillator circuit converts a transducer capacitance to a frequency and includes a first loop to create an oscillatory waveform having a frequency related to a capacitance of the capacitive transducer. The first loop includes a resistor. The resistor is electrically coupled to a capacitor. The resistor is also electrically coupled to the capacitive transducer. The capacitive transducer is electrically coupled to an input of a first inverter gate. A second loop oscillates at the frequency of the first loop and further generates a second waveform of a substantially square wave shape at the same frequency. The second loop is electrically coupled to the first loop and the output of a third inverter gate is substantially a square wave at the frequency related to the capacitance of the capacitive transducer.

Capacitive sensor

A capacitive sensor is disclosed that includes a variable capacitor transducer that varies its capacitance with changes in an environmental parameter. The present invention is adapted to measure any linear parameter such as pressure, force, or distance. The sensor of the present invention is compact, inexpensive to make, and easily fabricated using commonly available components. Furthermore, it is not susceptible to errors caused by vibration, acceleration, and its orientation to the earth's gravitational field. The output of the capacitive sensor does not substantially drift with changes in temperature.

A medical diagnostic instrument includes at least one blood oxygen saturation sensor and at least one temperature sensor. The sensors are being capable of measuring blood oxygen saturation and temperature simultaneously after insertion of a probe portion of the instrument relative to a defined body site, such as the axilla, rectum, or sublingual pocket of a patient. At least a portion of the probe portion of the instrument is disposable.

Picture noise in a CCD video probe is reduced by producing a faithful reproduction of a reset-gate signal received from a timing generator to an imager by using a cable compensator network. The network contains an RLC circuit which corrects the relative amplitude and phase of the various frequency components of the reset-gate signal. The precise values of the components in the RLC circuit are selected according to the attenuation and distortion characteristics of the coaxial cable connecting the drive electronics assembly from the imager assembly.

A miniature wire connector for connecting a transmission cable, defined by a plurality of coaxial cables, to an electronic imager assembly. The connector includes a substantially non-conductive supporting body, and a plurality of grooves formed in the outer surface of the body. At least a portion of each of the grooves includes a layer of conductive plating formed thereon, the grooves retaining at least an axial portion of at least one coaxial cable.

Miniature connector with improved strain relief for an imager assembly

A PNP bipolar transistor or an enhancement mode P-channel FET is used as a buffer to drive a video signal from an imager to video processing circuits. An endoscope with a solid state imager having a negative-going video pulse is used, with a video buffer located at or near the distal end to buffer the CCD video signal. The buffer employs a PNP bipolar transistor that is biased by a bias circuit for the base and a power supply for the collector, both located near the transistor, and a load for the emitter located at some distance from the transistor.
