Apparatus and methods for selectively masking image data and inhibiting projection of light corresponding to the masked image data. Projection devices include a light engine to project light onto a surface within an available field of projection and a processing unit configured to selectively mask image data in response to user input defining a desired field of view. The masked image data is that image data corresponding to areas outside the desired field of view.

Selectively masking image data

A system comprising a media player configured to play media content, a projector operatively coupled to the media player, and a control unit operatively coupled to the media player and the projector is provided. The control unit is configured to detect an on-screen display condition associated with the media player, and the control unit is configured to prevent first information associated with the on-screen display condition and provided by the media player from being displayed by the projector in response to detecting the on-screen display condition.

Media projector system for preventing the display of on-screen display information

A projector/camera system includes a projector, configured to project a sequenced image to a projection location, and a camera, located at the projection location and oriented to take an image of a region including the projector. The camera is configured to capture a sequenced image that is synchronized and out of phase with the sequenced image of the projector, thereby to minimize light interference from the projector.

A publication is distributed by an automated publication delivery system. Activity around a physical location of the automated publication delivery system is monitored. In response to detection of an increased activity level around the physical location of the automated publication delivery system, additional copies of the publication are printed for distribution. For example, the automated publication delivery system is a kiosk and the publication is a newspaper. Monitoring is performed, for example, using a microphone to monitor noise level, an optical sensor to detect movement near the automated publication delivery system, and/or a motion detector to detect movement near the automated publication delivery system.

A method for receiving information at a document delivery server from a producer to generate and/or update a publication profile, periodically acquiring content objects from one or more content providers based, at least in part, on the publication profile, and generating the publication utilizing one or more of the retrieved content objects. A method for printing one or more documents operatively coupled to a printing device is presented, the method comprising issuing a request to retrieve one or more documents from an associated one or more providers in response to an indication received from a user. Receiving the requested one or more documents in a print manager operatively coupled to the printing device, and printing the retrieved one or more documents from the printing module, without invoking an application associated with the one or more documents, or otherwise displaying the one or more documents to the user.

Document delivery system for automatically printing a document on a printing device

A poster generation system and method includes interaction between a publishing server and a client, for example including interaction via a global computer network, to generate a poster. The publishing server provides interfaces to allow a user of the client, via the network, to select a poster template, populate the template with multiple images to be incorporated into the poster, manipulate the images within copy holes of the poster, and request a preview image of at least part of the poster. The publishing server is able to generate the preview image and forward it to the client via the network.
