Noble metal silver precipitating nuclei are prepared by reducing a noble metal salt or complex in the presence of a polymer with a Sn.degree. suspension formed by the borohydride reduction of a tin salt. The invention is also directed to film units employing said nuclei.

Method for forming silver precipitating nuclei

Noble metal silver precipitating nuclei are prepared by reducing a noble metal salt or complex in the presence of a polymer with a Cr.sup.+3 /Sn.degree. complex. The invention is also directed to film units employing said nuclei.

A silver diffusion transfer film unit comprising a transparent support carrying on one surface, in order, a layer comprising silver precipitating nuclei, a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer and a layer comprising a processing composition permeable polymer layer, a substantially photoinsensitive, water-insoluble inorganic silver salt and a substantially water-insoluble noble metal compound containing a noble metal below silver in the Electromotive Force Series of Elements. In a preferred embodiment the film unit includes an additive color screen.

Silver diffusion transfer film unit transparency

This invention is directed to an additive color diffusion transfer film unit which comprises, in order, an additive multicolor screen, a silver precipitating layer, a layer of chitin having a copper salt disposed therein, and a photosensitive silver halide layer.
