A self-locking wire terminal assembly and a shape memory wire termination system includes an electrical terminal constructed with spring legs which provide two opposing points of contact on a mating electrical conductive pin. The points of contact prevent the pin from being removed. The shape memory termination system is formed by electrically coupling a clip assembly to shape memory wire and to an electrical source. In one embodiment, the shape memory wire causes an actuator to activate when the shape memory wire dissipates electrical power. The terminal assemblies may be manufactured by assembling wire with conduction pads onto a continuous reel. The terminal assemblies may be formed from the reel by trimming wire and linkages between the conduction pads.

Method of manufacturing self-locking wire terminal

Electrical connectors that contain a flexible region are provided. In one embodiment, a connector has a first portion that includes several channels and a second portion that has one or more channels. One or more of the channels may include conductors for electrical connections. The connector further comprises a flexible region that is configured to flexibly connect the first portion with the second portion. Further aspects of the invention relate to connection systems that include a connector having a flexible region. The connection system comprises a connector and an element, such as a connecting block, having one or more mounting surfaces. An alignment feature may be used to align the connector block with a connector.

Self-locking wire terminal and shape memory wire termination system

An electrical terminal configured to electrically mate with a conductive blade may include a base integrally formed with lateral walls, at least one spring member, and at least one contact rib. The spring member extends from at least one of the lateral walls, and is configured to contact a first surface of the conductive blade. The contact rib extends from an upper surface of the base, and is configured to contact a second surface of the conductive blade. The spring member may include an extension beam angled toward the base, with a tip of the extension beam being canted away from the base, so as not to snag the conductive blade.

A power distribution system is provided for an automobile mirror assembly or the like, and includes a flexible membrane having electrical traces electrically connected to the vehicle electrical system, and connecting sites for electrically connecting to various power consumers in the mirror assembly.

A connector for connecting an electrical component having a tab-type electrical terminal to a conductor or wire includes a non-conducting housing base having a bottom wall, an upstanding front wall and upstanding, opposing side walls generally transverse to the front wall. The base defines a well. The front wall has a notch formed therein for receiving the conductor and the bottom wall has an opening for receiving the tab-type electrical terminal. A conductive contact is carried by the base, disposed in the well. The contact has conductor receiving elements generally aligned with and on opposing sides of the base front wall notch. The conductor receiving elements are configured to receive the conductor therebetween. The contact also includes first and second terminal engaging portions that define a tab-receiving region. The contact is carried by the base to dispose the tab-receiving region in overlying relation to the housing base bottom wall opening. The tab-type terminal is inserted through the housing base bottom wall opening and is received in the contact tab-receiving region. The terminal is in electrical contact with the conductor positioned between the conductor receiving elements. A plurality of housing bases disposed on a carrier strip and a plurality of contacts disposed on a carrier strip are disclosed, as is a method for making the connectors.

Electrical component terminal connector

A connector for connecting a plurality of wires to a sub-miniature switch and lamp socket assembly having tabs and a ground pin includes a molded, one-piece housing and a plurality of terminals for joining the plurality of wires to the tabs and ground pin. A plurality of openings are formed within the housing, accepting both the plurality of terminals and the tabs and ground pin of the assembly, and allowing the terminals to connect with the tabs and ground pin. The plurality of openings are formed within the bottom, front, and back faces of the housing. A method of connecting a sub-miniature switch and lamp socket assembly having tabs and a ground pin to a plurality of wires is also disclosed.

Switch connector and method

An insulation displacement connector is adapted to receive an associated cable having a conductor and a covering over the conductor and secure the cable within the connector. The connector includes at least one contact. Each contact has at least one wall having a slot formed therein and defining bifurcated wall sections. The slot defines an entrance between the bifurcated wall sections. Each wall section has an outwardly inclined surface defining a reversed bevel that is contiguous with an inwardly inclined surface extending into the slot. The outwardly inclined surfaces each having a cutting edge formed thereon. A juncture of the inwardly inclined surface and its contiguous outwardly inclined surface defines an apex.

An electrical connector for connecting and mounting a motor upon a printed circuit board comprises a flexible connection between contact fingers of the connector and a base portion of the connector which serves to isolate the motor from the printed circuit board such that vibrations generated by the motor are not transmitted to the printed circuit board. Movable support members mounted upon the base portion also effectively rigidly support the flexibly mounted contact fingers so as to facilitate insertion of motor tab contacts into engagement with the contact fingers of the connector. The printed circuit board is also a printed thick film type printed circuit board, and the connector comprises three dependent leg members which are adapted to be inserted through apertures defined within the printed circuit board and folded beneath the board so as to secure the connector upon the board.

Solderless flex termination for motor tab

An insulated electrical connector is used with an associated switch. The switch includes three protruding co-planar switch terminals parallel and spaced from one another. The connector includes first, second, and third contacts positioned within an insulating housing that has at least three cavities parallel to one another. Each contact is positioned within the housing so that the connector is configured to receive external conductors and the associated switch terminals.

Electrical connector

An electrical connector comprises a plurality of electrical connector contacts which have insulation-displacement portions at first ends thereof and slidable pin-engaging portions at second opposite ends thereof whereby all wire-wrap electrical connections have been eliminated and all electrical connections between external wires and pin contacts of a second electrical connector are solderless. A gas tube over-protection printed circuit board can also be connected to the pin contacts of the second electrical connector in a solderless manner.

An electrical switch connector assembly, for mating with an electrical switch, comprises a housing having a plurality of electrical contact members disposed therein, wherein each one of the contact members have insulation-piercing members formed upon first end portions thereof for engaging electrical wires, and leaf-spring members formed upon second end portions thereof for engaging prong contact members of the electrical switch. A cover member is snap-engagingly mounted upon the housing so as to cooperate with the housing in retaining the electrical wires mounted therein, and a strain relief member is also snap-engagingly mounted upon the housing so as to co-operate with the cover member in providing strain-relief characteristics to the electrical wires.
