A system includes a sensor device, a hub device, and a keypad device. The keypad device is configured to operate in a keypad mode and a wireless repeater mode. In the wireless repeater mode, the keypad device is in communication with the hub device and in direct communication with the sensor device such that the keypad device, in the wireless repeater mode, acts as a wireless repeater between the hub device and the sensor device.

In some examples, a method includes receiving, from a carbon-monoxide (CO) sensor, an indication of an above-threshold level of CO for an above-threshold amount of time; determining, from a plurality of appliances, a subset of appliances associated with the CO sensor; and deactivating the subset of appliances.

Carbon monoxide detection system

A system includes a sensor device, a hub device, and a keypad device. The hub device is in communication with the sensor device using time divisional multiple access (TDMA) The keypad device is in communication with the hub device. The keypad device is configured to operate in: a keypad mode and a wireless repeater mode. In the keypad mode, the keypad device is in communication with the hub device but not in direct communication with the sensor device. In the wireless repeater mode, the keypad device is in communication with the hub device and in direct communication with the sensor device using TDMA such that the keypad device, in the wireless repeater mode, acts as a wireless repeater between the hub device and the sensor device.

A premises communication hub includes a primary communications module, a secondary communications module, a power supply, and a charging module. The primary communications module is configured to receive a premises signal from a premises device and transmit an external signal to a remote server. The secondary communications module is configured to receive the premises signal from the premises device and transmit the external signal to the remote server. The power supply includes a primary power input configured to receive power from a primary power source and a secondary power input configured to receive power from a secondary power source. The power supply is electrically connected to the primary communications module and the secondary communications module. And, the charging module is electrically connected to the secondary power source and configured to recharge the secondary power source.

A security system is provided. The security system includes a control panel located within a secured space, a plurality of sensors coupled to the control panel that detect security events within the secured space, a user interface within the secured area coupled to the control panel, a camera located in the user interface that collects video images in the secured space surrounding the user interface upon activation of one of the plurality of sensors, a sound transducer located in the user interface, a programmed processor within one of the user interface and the control panel that supports VoIP calls between a called or calling party and the user interface and a control button on the user interface that activates a VoIP connection with a called or calling party through the user interface and control panel.

A sensor device includes processing circuitry configured to output, at a first bandwidth, first bandwidth data to a hub device using a first wireless connection configured for a first wireless protocol. In response to determining that the sensor device has second bandwidth data to output to the hub device at a second bandwidth, the processing circuitry is configured to output a second wireless connection request to the hub device using the first wireless connection. In response to the hub device outputting information for establishing a second wireless connection with the sensor device, the processing circuitry is configured to establish the second wireless connection for a second wireless protocol different from the first wireless protocol. The processing circuitry is configured to output, at the second bandwidth, the second bandwidth data to the hub device using the second wireless connection. The second bandwidth is greater than the first bandwidth.

Home network using multiple wireless networking protocols

Some methods for detecting and avoiding radio interference in a wireless sensor network can include an access point device periodically transmitting a beacon message to a plurality of IoT enabled devices via a radio channel, upon receipt of the beacon message, an IoT enabled device attempting to decode the beacon message, the IoT enabled device measuring and storing a signal strength of a successfully decoded beacon message as signal strength data in a memory of the IoT enabled device, the IoT enabled device increasing a missed beacon counter stored in the memory of the IoT enabled device responsive to a beacon message that cannot be decoded, each of the plurality of IoT enabled devices periodically transmitting stored data to the access point device, and the access point device using the received data to identify an interference source, or an interference issue or a fading issue on the radio channel.

Systems and methods for detecting and avoiding radio interference in a wireless sensor network

Systems and methods are provided that include an access point receiving a request from a device to join a first network defined by a first protocol, the access point allocating a slot of a superframe to the device, and the access point allocating remaining slots of the superframe to communication by the access point on a second network defined by a second protocol. Additionally or alternatively, some methods can include the access point enabling a first transceiver communicating via the first protocol and either, when the first transceiver receives first data from the device via the first protocol within a predetermined time of a beginning of the slot, receiving second data from the device via the first protocol for a remainder of the slot or, when the first transceiver module fails to receive the first data, the access point enabling a second transceiver for the remainder of the slot.

Systems and methods for synchronizing wireless sensor devices connected to a control panel device via multiple access point devices are provided. Some methods can include a control panel device periodically transmitting a time signal to an access point device, the access point device periodically receiving the time signal from the control panel device and using the time signal to synchronize with the control panel device, the access point device periodically transmitting a wireless beacon that includes a timestamp of the access point device to a sensor device, and the sensor device periodically exiting a sleep mode to receive the wireless beacon from the access point device and using the timestamp to synchronize with the access point device.

Systems and methods for synchronizing wireless sensor devices connected to a control panel device via multiple access point devices

A floatable flood detector has a watertight housing that carries internally a wireless transmitter and a fluid sensor. In the presence of sensed fluid, an alarm message can be transmitted by the transmitter to a displaced monitoring unit. The sensor has a portion exposed to the fluid of interest outside of the housing. The antenna is carried, at least at a fluid level, relative to the floating housing.

Self-contained, buoyant, and water-tight wireless flood detector

A security system may include a home security system that is connected to a remote monitoring service as well as a portable security device that can travel with an individual when they are away from home. The portable security device may communicate with the same monitoring service as the home security system, and may in fact be linked to the same user account as that used for their home security system. The home security system may thus be extended to cover a remote location. In some cases, occupants of an individual's home may be notified via the home security system of alert conditions detected by the portable security device at the remote location. Likewise, occupants of the remote location may be notified via the portable security device of alert conditions detected in the home by the home security system.
