An angle of attack sensor includes a vane assembly and a multi-piece faceplate adjacent the vane assembly. The faceplate includes a heated chassis defining a pocket and a mounting plate positioned adjacent the heated chassis and having an opening. The vane assembly has a portion that is positioned in the pocket of the heated chassis and extends through the opening of the mounting plate.

Angle of attack sensor with thermal enhancement

An angle of attack sensor includes a housing, a heated chassis positioned at least partially within the housing and defining a pocket, a mounting plate positioned adjacent the heated chassis and having a circular opening, an external surface facing away from the housing, and an internal surface facing toward the housing, and a vane assembly extending through the circular opening of the mounting plate. The vane assembly includes a vane extending from a root to a tip and a vane base connected to the root of the vane and positioned within the pocket of the heated chassis such that the vane base is offset inwardly from the external surface toward the housing.

Integral vane base angle of attack sensor

An angle of attack sensor includes a vane that is freely rotatable to align with a direction of an oncoming airflow over the vane. The airfoil includes a root proximate a vane hub that connects to a rotatable shaft, a tip opposite the root, a leading edge, a trailing edge opposite the leading edge, a first lateral face, a second lateral face, and a heating element disposed within the airfoil between the first and second lateral faces proximate the leading edge. The first lateral face extends from the leading edge to the trailing edge. The second lateral face is opposite the first lateral face and extends from the leading edge to the trailing edge. The first and second lateral faces are symmetric about a chord of the airfoil and each have an outer surface profile that is nonlinear and geometrically convex from the leading edge to the trailing edge.

Angle of attack sensor with rotatable airfoil

The bearings of aircraft angle of attack (AOA) vanes are susceptible to lightning strike damage, which causes fluting on the inner and outer races of the bearings and causes the bearings to generate friction, noise, and vibrations. To prevent the bearings from experiencing damage due to lightning strikes, the bearings, the shaft, and/or the mounting plate are configured to create an electric isolator to prevent the electric current from the lightning strike from passing through the bearings, thereby preventing the bearings from incurring lightning strike damage.

Electrical isolation of angle of attack vane bearings

An angle of attack sensor includes a housing having an open first end and a closed second end, a heated chassis positioned within the open first end of the housing, a mounting plate positioned on the heated chassis adjacent the open first end of the housing such that an internal chamber is formed between the heated chassis and the mounting plate, a transducer compartment between the heated chassis and the closed second end of the housing, and a water management system located adjacent the internal chamber and the transducer compartment. The water management system includes an annular chamber positioned in the internal chamber, a first tube at a first end of the annular chamber, and a second tube at a second end of the annular chamber. The first tube has a hole such that the first tube is in fluid communication with the annular chamber and the internal chamber, and the second tube is in fluid communication with the annular chamber and the transducer compartment.

Water management system for angle of attack sensors

A computer apparatus and method to determine aircraft fuel mileage performance. The computer apparatus including a memory and a processor disposed in communication with the memory and configured to issue a plurality of instructions stored in the memory. The instructions issue signals to receive real-time aircraft data during aircraft flight and process the real-time data to determine real-time aircraft mass data. A calculation is performed to determine the real-time fuel mileage performance for the aircraft based upon determined real-time aircraft mass data.

System and method for real-time aircraft performance monitoring

A mount includes a keyed insert and a key receiver. The keyed insert includes a key base and a keyed plate mounted to the key base and having one or more key features extending from a periphery of the keyed plate. The key receiver accepts the keyed insert and includes a receiver base, a retaining ring, a key set ring, a key entrance ring, and a spring plate. The retaining ring is connected to the receiver base. The key set ring is disposed between the retaining ring and the receiver base and includes one or more receiving notches and one or more locking notches. The one or more receiving notches is configured to receive the one or more key features the one or more locking notch is spaced away from the one or more receiving notch and is configured to lockingly engage the one or more key features.

Tool-less low profile rotation mount

In one example, an apparatus for holding a display device includes a back plate and a plurality of engaging members disposed around a periphery of the back plate. The back plate includes a rear face and a front face opposite the rear face. The plurality of engaging members extend from the back plate in a direction from the rear face to the front face to define an outer boundary of a retention space configured to accept the display device. The plurality of engaging members includes a rotatable engaging member configured to rotate between an engagement position and a disengagement position. The engagement position is configured to secure the display device within the retention space. The disengagement position is configured to allow removal of the display device from the retention space.

Display device holder

A camera adjustment mechanism allows a user to adjust the orientation of a surveillance camera. The camera adjustment mechanism includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion includes a first end, a second end, and a first wall that extends between and connects the first end and the second end. The first wall is sloped such that an inner diameter of the first end is greater than an inner diameter of the second end. The second portion includes a third end connected to the second end, a fourth end, a second wall extending between and connecting the third end and the fourth end, and a plurality of engagement openings extending circumferentially about the fourth end.

Camera adjustment tool and method

An assembly includes an adapter portion configured for attachment to a rear surface of an electronic display device and a base portion configured to be mounted to a fixed structure in the cockpit of an aircraft. The adapter portion has a cylindrical barrel portion having a plurality of circumferentially disposed radially outwardly extending keys, a first radially inwardly extending recess corresponding to a landscape position of the display device and a second radially inwardly extending recess corresponding to a portrait position of the display device. The base portion includes an upper surface with a circular reception port formed therein for receiving the barrel portion of the adapter portion, and the reception port has a plurality of radially outwardly extending circumferentially disposed keyways formed therein for receiving the plurality of keys on the barrel portion of the adapter portion.

Rotating electronic display adapter

A temperature sensor is provided with at least two thermometers or temperature sensing elements that have different recovery factors, and which are in the same airflow. The recovery factors for the respective thermometers are determined for the sensor and stored in a memory of a processor. The temperature measured by each of the thermometers is provided to the processor, and the processor establishes ratios using the recovery factors and measured temperatures to determine total temperature and static temperature of the airflow in which the thermometers are placed.

Sensor assembly for determining total temperature, static temperature and Mach number

An air data module connector and filter that provides a shielded housing 12 for supporting a standard air data signal carrying cable connector 22 on an exterior wall thereof, and having an access opening that has a cover plate 34 on an opposite wall from the mounting wall for the connector. The cover plate 34 has a plurality of tubular filters 36 installed therein with pins 40 extending into the housing toward the cable connector. A flexible circuit board 44 has opposite ends which fit on the pins of the connector 23, and the pins 40 of the filters 36 extending through the cover plate, respectively, so that the flexible circuit board 44 can be installed on the cable connector 23 and on the pins 40 for the filters on the cover plate 34 prior to assembly of the cable connector and the cover plate 34 in the housing 12.

Air data transducer

An ice detector circuit controls heating of a probe detecting ice. The circuit generates an icing output as a function of a temperature output generated by the probe. A control circuit cyclically controls a start time of the heating. A time measurement circuit measures a warm-up time to a first temperature threshold below the melting temperature, and measuring a melting time to a second temperature above the melting temperature. A comparator compares the melting time to a stored comparison parameter adjusted by the warm-up time and provides the icing output.
