According to one embodiment, a bicycle support apparatus and method is provided. The bicycle support apparatus can support a bicycle in a horizontal or vertical direction. The bicycle support apparatus can also be secured to any horizontal, vertical, or any angular face. Still further, the bicycle support apparatus can be mounted onto a moveable object, such as an automobile. Slideably secured to an elongated member of the support apparatus is a bicycle fork securement member and a bicycle bottom bracket pad. The securement member secures the fork of the bicycle, and the bicycle bottom bracket rests on the pad. Such securement can be vertically, horizontally, stationary, or moveable configurations.

An apparatus and method for controlling boot programs sent by a server computer system to a plurality of client computer systems in response to a plurality of requests by the client computer systems. Specifically, the invention provides for a priority boot, a paced boot or a combination priority and paced boot enabled by a remotely controlled boot process.

Method and apparatus for sending boot programs to workstation computers over a network in a controlled process

Client Discovery is a program that utilizes the existing remote boot capability of a network and adds a program to automate the discovery of a computer's class and the creation of an instance for that specific computer. When a client machine is connected to the network and turned on for the first time, the server will find its request for an operating system, identify that the machine does not have an instance and will send an CD boot block to the client computer. The CD boot block will obtain information about the client computer by automatically scanning everything that the program is able to scan. The client information gathering program may also prompt the user with questions and include those responses in the client information. The CD boot block will then send the information gathered to a log file in the server. One or more keys from the client information are compared to one or more keys in the template table. When a match is made, the server program executes a command to link the client machine's MAC address to the template creating an instance for the client computer and to save the instance in the server memory. The client machine will then reboot. When it restarts it will now be automatically identified by its instance and the appropriate operating system sent to it.

Sending a CD boot block to a client computer to gather client information and send it to a server in order to create an instance for client computer

An apparatus and method to control access to operating systems sent by a server computer system to a client computer system in response to a request by the client computer system utilizing a pre-execution logon verification of user identification and password and override of the Universally Administered Address by a Locally Administered Address corresponding to the boot package to be sent to the client workstation.

Pre-execution logon (PEL)

A file request is received by the operating system, and the appropriate IFS driver for the file is called. The IFS driver remaps the drive path based on a drive location list contained in a file redirection table in the IFS driver. Drive or server redundancy is ensured by simultaneously broadcasting writes to each drive on the drive location list. Redundancy is ensured for read operations by sequentially traversing the drive location list in the event of a non-responsive drive or server.

Remotely controlled boot manager

A computer program, installed on a computer, allows a user of that computer to be assigned a personal local data partition and the data to be retained in the partition. When a second user logs on, that user is assigned a different personal data partition. When the computer boots after logon by the second user, the operating system does not see the first users partition and will assign the same drive letter to the second user's partition. The process repeats for any number of users. Therefore, at each boot of the system, the operating system will not see the personal data partitions for any other user than the user who just logged on with his or her individual identification.

A method and apparatus for Dynamic MAC Allocation and Configuration is based on the ability to remotely boot a client machine from a server machine and adds the capability to assign a Locally Administered Address (LAA) to override the Universally Administered Address (UAA). A set of programs at the workstation allows a remote boot and interaction the server. The client machine will send out a DMAC discovery frame. The discovery frame will be intercepted by a DMAC program installed on the server which will be running and listening for the request. Once the DMAC program intercepts the request it analyzes the request and takes one of two actions. If necessary, the server will run an &ldquo;initialization&rdquo; script. For workstations that have already been initialized, the server will send an LAA to the client workstation from a table or pool. The client workstation will then request an operating system with its new LAA. The boot options will be a table or pool corresponding to an LAA or range of LAA's. In order to achieve the override of the UAA, the DMAC will assign an LAA to the workstation. Once the LAA is assigned the boot will proceed based on the package that will be shipped to that address.
