The invention solves the problem of lack of consistency in the policy handling of cellular devices and non-cellular devices. Security credentials that are acceptable to the core network are enabled by the invention to be used for devices that do not have access to such security credentials. This results in consistency in how policy is handled, as it enables the core network to handle policy for all devices, regardless of whether they have access to acceptable security credentials. Acceptable security credentials may be SIM-based credentials or certificate-based credentials, or any acceptable type of security credentials.

Systems and methods for secure connections and data transfer

This disclosure relates to a system and method for routing data packets adaptively in a communication system. As the proliferation of data rich content and increasingly more capable mobile devices has continued, the amount of data communicated over mobile operator's networks can continue to exponentially increase. One way to accommodate increased data traffic and provide high quality data communication services to end users is by utilizing network resources efficiently. This disclosure provides systems and methods for efficiently utilizing network resources by providing adaptive intelligence to data packet routing systems.

Adaptive intelligent routing in a communication system

Systems and methods are provided for managing machine-type communication and for mobile network memory conservation. Consistent with disclosed embodiments, a machine-type communication gateway including a centralized policy engine and a device trigger storage may be communicatively connected to control nodes of a mobile network and to trigger providers of a fixed network. The machine-type communication gateway may be configured to receive device triggers from the trigger providers, store the device triggers in the device trigger storage in queues, and providing the device triggers to the control nodes at rates determined by the centralized policy engine. Consistent with disclosed embodiments, a non-transitory storage memory may store bearer information. The mobile network may be configured to receive an indication to establish a data session, retrieve the stored bearer information from the storage memory, and commit memory resources by establishing one or more bearers for the data session using the stored bearer information.

Systems and methods for machine-type communication

An apparatus for providing network access and application session services includes a wireless network access device for receiving packet data streams from or transmitting packet data streams to one or more subscribers, and for conveying the packet data streams to or from a network or other subscribers. The wireless network access device includes profile information relating to the one or more subscribers. The apparatus further includes one or more application session services that are provided as a component of the wireless network access device. The wireless network access device selects, based on the profile information, zero or more of the application session services to process the packet data streams. The wireless network access device can also determine an application state associated with the packet data streams, and can modify actions of at least one of the application session services according to the application state.

Method and system for inlining services within a network access device

A system and method are disclosed for routing multicast packets in a subnetwork so as to conserve bandwidth in at least some of the network segments or collision domains of the subnetwork. In particular, multicast packets are only retransmitted in the network segments that are on a path to a host that is a member of the multicast group of hosts to which the multicast packet is destined.
