Disposable loading units (DLUs) configured for mounting to a robotic arm for performing at least one surgical task are presented. Each DLU includes an attachment platform having at least one connector for engaging at least one connector on a distal end of the robotic arm for connecting the DLU to the robotic arm, a head portion connected to the attachment platform at one end and configured for housing an electromechanical actuation assembly therein, and at least one surgical tool member extending from the head portion and operatively associated with the electromechanical actuation assembly for controlling the operation and movement of the at least one surgical tool member. The at least one surgical tool member may include a cutting assembly, an aortic hole punch assembly, a lasing assembly, a coring assembly, or a vascular suturing assembly.

Robotic arms DLUs for performing surgical tasks

Disposable loading units (DLUs) configured for mounting to a robotic arm for performing at least one surgical task are presented. Each DLU includes an attachment platform having at least one connector for engaging at least one connector on a distal end of the robotic arm for connecting the DLU to the robotic arm, a head portion connected to the attachment platform at one end and configured for housing an electro-mechanical actuation assembly therein, and at least one surgical tool member extending from the head portion and operatively associated with the electro-mechanical actuation assembly for controlling the operation and movement of the at least one surgical tool member. The at least one surgical tool member may include a cutting assembly, an aortic hole punch assembly, a lasing assembly, a coring assembly, or a vascular suturing assembly.

Robotic arm DLUs for performing surgical tasks

A catheter ( ), and a method for performing radiation treatment at a site where angio-plasty was performed, are disclosed. The catheter ( ) includes a hollow, cylindrical member ( ) constructed from a fairly flexible material. The catheter is maneuvered within the body by traveling over a guide wire which was initially maneuvered in the blood vessel to a position beyond the actual site of a stenosis. Stand-off structure ( ) having a stand-off balloon ( ) surrounds a portion ( ) of the outer surface of the catheter ( ). The distal end ( ) of the catheter ( ) includes an inner lumen plug ( ), and a distal mandrel ( ) extending through the inner lumen plug ( ). Catheter with stand-off structure

A self-contained powered surgical apparatus for applying surgical fasteners to body tissue is disclosed which includes a handle assembly, a gear motor assembly disposed within the handle assembly, a power source disposed within the handle assembly for energizing the motor assembly, an elongated body extending distally from the handle assembly, a cartridge assembly detachably connected to a distal end portion of the elongated body, and an elongated drive shaft extending through the elongated body and detachably coupling the motor assembly to the cartridge assembly.

Self-contained powered surgical apparatus for applying surgical fasteners

The present disclosure is directed to a perfusion stent and method for implanting the same in a TMR channel for perfusing blood to ischemic areas of the head. The stent includes a head and a stem extending perpendicular to the head. The stem includes a cylinder having a plurality of holes. The method comprises the steps of creating the TMR channel, and implanting the perfusion stent within the TMR channel in order for blood within a ventricle to enter the stem and be perfused to the heart muscle.

Perfusion structure

An endoscopic surgical instrument for aspiration, irrigation, and blowing gas adjacent a surgical site is provided. The instrument includes a handle portion and a cannula member extending distally from the handle portion. First and second connection ports are supported by the handle and are in fluid communication with the cannula member. An insertion port is also supported by the handle portion and is preferably axially aligned with the cannula member. A blow tube is removably positioned within the cannula member via the insertion port. The first and second connection ports are adapted to communicate with a source of irrigation fluid and a vacuum source and the blow tube is adapted to be connected to a source of pressurized gas such that irrigation fluid, aspiration, and/or pressurized gas can be selectively provided via the cannula member at the surgical site.

Endoscopic surgical instrument for aspiration and irrigation

A surgical instrument for anastomosis of first and second blood vessels is provided having a handle and a body portion extending distally from the handle. A collet is mounted adjacent a distal end portion of the body portion and defines a passage therethrough for the reception of an end of a first blood vessel. A plurality of surgical fasteners are releasably supported by the collet and radially oriented about the distal end thereof. An anvil is mounted adjacent of the collet. The anvil and collet are relatively slidable in response to actuation of the handle to simultaneously deform then release the surgical fasteners.

Anastomosis instrument and method

A surgical clip applicator comprising a housing, a pair of handles pivotally connected to opposite sides of said housing, and a jaw blade assembly fixedly connected to the housing. The jaw blade assembly includes a pair of jaws for receiving and deforming a clip therebetween and a clip carrier for supplying a series of clips to said jaws. A channel assembly is slidably mounted in the housing and envelops said jaw blade assembly. A forming cam is connected between and to said handles and said channel assembly for sliding said channel assembly in a distal direction in response to closing of said handles together to move said jaws towards each other. A feed cam bar slidably mounted in said channel assembly in overlying relation to said clip carrier, said bar having a nose at its distal end. A pusher bar sidably mounted in said channel assembly for advancing clips along said clip carrier. A first spring member connected between said cam bar and said forming cam for sliding said cam bar in a proximal direction in response to closing of said handles together and further biasing said channel assembly in a proximal direction. Second spring member biasing said pusher bar in a distal direction to push a foremost clip in said clip carrier between said jaws in response to opening of said handles from each other. A clip retainer for preventing movement of said spring biased pusher bar is also provided.

Method of anastomosing a vessel using a surgical clip applier

A self-contained powered surgical stapling device is provided which includes an elongate body and a disposable cartridge assembly detachably supported in a distal end portion of the body. The cartridge assembly includes a frame configured to engage the distal end portion of the body, a housing supported within the frame and containing a plurality of surgical fasteners, an anvil mounted for movement with respect to the housing, an actuation assembly configured to translate relative to the housing and the anvil to progressively move the anvil from an open position to a closed position and to sequentially eject the surgical fasteners from the housing to be formed against the anvil, and an axial drive screw mounted in the frame and threadably associated with the actuation assembly for effectuating the longitudinal translation thereof. A motor assembly having an axial drive shaft is disposed within the elongate body, and a coupling is provided for detachably connecting the axial drive shaft and the axial drive screw. A power source is disposed within the elongate body for energizing the motor assembly.

Self-contained powered surgical apparatus

A surgical clip applier comprising a housing, a pair of handles pivotally connected to opposite sides of the housing, and a jaw blade assembly fixedly connected to the housing. The jaw blade assembly includes a pair of jaws for receiving and deforming a clip therebetween and a clip carrier for supplying a series of clips to the jaws. A channel assembly is slidably mounted with respect to the housing and envelops the jaw blade assembly for camming the jaws closed upon closing of the handles. The clips may be fed to the jaws by a spring biased feed bar which operates upon closing of the handles, or may be urged by pusher bar which provides a biasing force to the clips to be retained by the jaws. The instrument may be used in conventional surgical procedures, or may be adapted for endoscopic and laparoscopic surgical procedures requiring the application of microsurgical clips.

Method of performing a vessel anastomosis using a surgical clip applier

A surgical clip applicator comprising a housing, a pair of handles pivotally connected to opposite sides of said housing, and a jaw blade assembly fixedly connected to the housing. The jaw blade assembly includes a pair of jaws for receiving and deforming a clip therebetween and a clip carrier for supplying a series of clips to said jaws. A channel assembly is slidably mounted in the housing and envelops said jaw blade assembly. A forming cam is connected between and to said handles and said channel assembly for sliding said channel assembly in a distal direction in response to closing of said handles together to move said jaws towards each other. A feed cam bar slidably mounted in said channel assembly in overlying relation to said clip carrier, said bar having a nose at its distal end. A pusher bar slidably mounted in said channel assembly for advancing clips along said clip carrier. A first spring member connected between said cam bar and said forming cam for sliding said cam bar in a proximal direction in response to closing of said handles together and further biasing said channel assembly in a proximal direction. Second spring member biasing said pusher bar in a distal direction to push a foremost clip in said clip carrier between said jaws in response to opening of said handles from each other. A clip retainer for preventing movement of said spring biased pusher bar is also provided.
