An aquatic exercise device is provided for assisting a user staying afloat and maintaining balance while performing exercises within a body of water. The device comprises a frame, a contoured body support bar, a pair of handles and a plurality of flotation and balance elements. The frame and body support bar form a 'D' shape that surrounds a user's midsection when in use. Handles are disposed along the front of the device so that a user may grip the device to stabilize his or her upper body during use. The frame is encased in floatation foam to provide buoyancy. Additional balance and buoyancy is provided by larger balancing elements disposed around the floatation frame. A user may utilize the device for swimming or exercising in water in a variety of positions, particularly for the elderly, those with limited mobility or those unable to swim independently.

Aquatic exercise device

A valve has a first set of passages for simultaneously connecting an inlet of a first chamber hydraulically to a source of fluid under pressure and an outlet of a second chamber hydraulically to a venting tank and a second set of passages for simultaneously connecting an inlet of the second chamber hydraulically to the source of fluid under pressure and an outlet of the first chamber hydraulically to the venting tank. The sets of passages are sequentially repositioned to alternately cyclically connect and interrupt hydraulic communication through them. The first and second sets of passages are so configured in relationship to the inlets and outlets that flow through one set is completely terminated only after flow in the other set is initiated.

Pressure capture valve

A slide valve for use in applications where gated fluid temperatures may exceed approximately 1600.degree. F. and exterior valve wall temperatures may be less than approxiamtely 600.degree. F. connects the valve bed plate to the valve body by use of a ring of conical cross section which is resiliently flexible in a response to thermal expansion or contraction of the ring so as to maintain the valve bed plate in a fixed relationship with respect to the valve body over a preselected temperature range. In one preferred embodiment of the invention, the valve orifice is propped against the valve bed plate by supports mounted on gussets that have grooves alternately spaced in their opposite faces so as to provide a heat sink between the orifice and the valve body. In another preferred embodiment intended for use in applications where the gated fluid temperature ranges from approximately 1000.degree. F. or less to an exterior valve body temperature of 600.degree. F. or less, the bed plate is connected to the valve body by an annular ring having concentric grooves alternatively spaced in opposite faces of the ring to define a heat sink between the bed plate and the body. The bed plate and the annular ring may be of a unitary construction.

Slide valve

A sheet random access memory (SHRAM) is a truly random access, nonvolatile and transportable memory characterized by the cell density, size and power requirements of smaller dynamic memories but having the nonvolatile character of core memories or magnetic disks and tape and the rugged transportability of magnetic disk and tape. The SHRAM is characterized by a memory media comprising a two dimensional magnetic substrate and a fixed driving device for writing and reading into the substrate and a fixed sensing device for sensing the information at each cell location. In one embodiment the fixed sensing device is a sensing line in close proximity to a cell location. In a second embodiment, a fixed sensing device includes a Hall effect device which senses the magnetic configuration of the cell. In a third embodiment, the fixed sensing device includes an SCS thyristor in which the cathode gate is coupled to the magnetic configuration of the cell. The memory media includes not only a homogeneous two dimensional substrate, but also ferrite cores formed into the substrate by photolithographic techniques wherein the information is stored within the core and read by the sensing device from a gap defined by the core. Memory cells according to the invention can thus be arranged and organized to form destructive readout RAMs, or nondestructive readout RAMs, in both serial and parallel form.

Sheet random access memory

A rodless submersible down hole pumping unit for a producing oil and/or gas well and including in combination a submersible prime mover operably connected with a source of electrical power from the surface of the ground through a suitable electrical cable. A pressure fluid source, a fluid moving pump operably connected with the motor for actuation thereby, a shifting valve assembly operable between the fluid moving pump and a shift rod assembly for transmitting reciprocation to a piston rod, the piston rod cooperating with a product valve unit for drawing well fluid from the fluid reservoir of the oil and/or gas well into the interior of the apparatus and discharging the well from the interior of the apparatus into the well tubing during continued reciprocation of the piston rod whereby the well fluid may be delivered to the surface of the ground for recovery thereof.

Submersible pumping unit

An electrode is fluid-coupled to the driven electrode, which is directly connected to either an AC or a DC source of potential. The driven electrode is provided with the usual ground electrode to establish the electrostatic field of a coalescing system. The electrode fluid-coupled to the driven electrode is positioned to establish two zones in the electrostatic field. A fluid mixture is passed through the two zones of the electrostatic field, in sequence. The intensity of the field in the first zone decreases as the dispersed polar fluid of the mixture increases, in relation to the less polar fluids of the mixture. At the same time, the field in the second zone increases in intensity. The field gradient shifts between the two zones, in accordance with the quantity of the polar fluid in the mixture passed through the zones in the field, in sequence.

Electrostatic coalescing system

A device for controlling skidding on roadway surfaces comprising anti-skid control means for regulating and controlling the braking system of the said vehicles; the said device being automatically responsive to changes in the drag in the said braking system; the said device comprising a first rotatable speed detector wheel mounted on a shaft with at least one permanent magnet embedded therein in the said first wheel, the said first wheel being in combination with a second rotatable wheel which is movably mounted on the said shaft the said second wheel having at least one cam follower for actuating the in and out movement of a coaxial switch plate which is electrically connected to and actuates a release valve in a pneumatic pressure chamber to release the brake chamber pressure therein, the said device being such that it controls the brake chamber pressure so that optimum lineal deceleration is maintained proportionally to the angular deceleration of the wheels respectively and maximum braking traction is maintained without the skidding of the vehicle wheels.
