An electric switch of the snap-action type includes a pair of relatively movable contacts, an operating linkage interconnected with a movable one of the contacts for imparting operating movement thereto, a hollow tubular rotatable member interconnected with the operating linkage and operable to impart switch operating movement thereto, a latching part secured to the rotatable member and engageable with abutment means so as to secure the rotatable member against rotation, spring means in the form of a torsion bar disposed within the rotatable member and effective to impart rotation thereto upon disengagement of the latching part from the abutment means, movable motive means in the form of a rotatable tube interconnected with the torsion bar for imparting twisting moment thereto together with latch releasing means mounted on and movable with the movable motive means for engaging the latching part and for moving such part out of engagement with the associated fixed abutment means after a predetermined degree of twisting moment is imparted to the torsion bar.

Electric switch and operating mechanism therefor

A fuse mounting arranged to isolate live electric parts and provided with grounded exposed parts comprises a housing structure, a hingedly mounted fuse panel disposed within said housing structure and normally forming a part of a fuse isolating wall within said housing structure, fuse mounting means secured to the interior of said fuse panel so as to isolate a fuse mounted on said fuse mounting means, conducting means in the form of an electric bushing and its associated bushing well mounted on and projecting through said fuse panel and forming a connection between one terminal of the fuse, disjointable connecting means in the form of an elbow connector engageable with said bushing on the exterior of said fuse panel and outside said isolating wall to form a disjointable electric connection with said bushing, and latch means movably mounted on said fuse panel and engageable with a locking slot formed in said isolating wall for removably securing said fuse panel in its normal position in said isolating wall.

Fuse mounting

An enclosing structure for an electric fuse having a fusible element disposed within a tubular casing of insulating material and interconnected at its ends with terminals mounted on the casing ends comprises an elongated tubular enclosure formed of insulating and semiconducting material and disposed about the fuse with its inner surface in heat transferring surface contacting relation therewith and a rigid metallic heat absorbing sleeve imbedded in the elongated enclosure to absorb heat therefrom and to impart a degree of mechanical strength thereto. Semiconducting sleeves which form parts of the tubular enclosure include an outer sheath which is grounded and inner sleeve elements arranged so as to isolate the fuse and the contacts of the fuse enclosing structure thereby to inhibit corona discharge from the conducting parts.
