An improvement is presented for a timing mechanism wherein the closing of a particular circuit results in a high electrical current surge. The rapidity of the circuit closure (made necessary by the current surge) results in contact bounce. A fast drop of a cam follower is provided by a cam having a substantially flat outer periphery and a face which has a steep drop with a gentle curvature. Upon dropping the cam follower, electrical contact arms are engaged which include a coil spring damper to dissipate kinetic energy encountered during contact closure, thereby preventing the contacts from bouncing.

Timing mechanism

A sensing element is carried by a probe and electrically connected to an electrical plug through electrical connectors carried within a flexible cable. Moisture sealing joints are provided between the cable and the probe and plug. An electrically insulative medium is disposed within the plug and extends to the outer surface of the plug. A moisture seal is provided within the plug to provide a seal between the plug and the electrically insulative material.

A metal strap is connected to a motor housing and to a metal mounting plate for a timer which carries the motor to electrically ground the motor to the timer.

A first shaft of two concentric rotatable shafts is axially displaceable with respect to the other. Switch opening and closing means is responsive to the axial displacement of the first shaft, the axial displacement being responsive to the rotational output of the second shaft. A cam means is carried by the second shaft.
