A method of using a water based solution having a controllable gel time. The method includes providing a predetermined ratio of a water soluble silicate solution having at least one alkali metal, providing a predetermined ratio of a water dispersible polymer, and providing a predetermined ratio of a water soluble initiator containing a reactive carbonyl compound. One embodiment of the method also includes combining the water soluble silicate solution, the dispersible polymer, and the water soluble initiator and injecting downhole in a single stage treatment. Another embodiment of the method includes pre-mixing at least the water soluble silicate solution and the dispersible polymer into a mixture, then injecting the water soluble initiator and the mixture downhole separately for a multi-stage treatment with in situ mixing.

Multi-component aqueous gel solution for control of delayed gelation timing and for resulting gel properties

A water based solution having a controllable gel time is disclosed. The solution has predetermined ratios of a water soluble silicate solution having at least one alkali metal, a predetermined ratio of a water dispersible polymer, and a predetermined ratio of a water soluble initiator containing a reactive carbonyl compound.

An apparatus and a method to control rotational positioning of continuous concentric tubing that extends from a surface downhole in a subterranean well or bore. In one version, a continuous cylindrical inner tube resides within and is concentric with a cylindrical outer tube. At least one elliptical lobe extends from the continuous inner tube. The invention utilizes diameter restrictions within and attached to the outer concentric tubing so that the elliptical lobe or lobes engage the diameter restrictions. Accordingly, rotation of one tube rotates or orients the other tube.

Method and apparatus for jet-assisted drilling or cutting

A top plate alignment template device for subterranean drilling or boring. The template device includes a frame receivable on a ground site. A plurality of tubular guide bores are provided on the frame, with each of the guide bores arranged at an angle extending downwardly and outwardly from the frame. In one embodiment, each of the guide bores has an axis so that the axes of the guide bores extend from a common center point above the frame.

A method and apparatus for creating inverted laterals or drainholes for producing from a subterranean reservoir including the steps of lowering, positioning and securing a reverse whipstock in a wellbore. A tube is secured from the surface to a pull tube which extends through and below the reverse whipstock. Fluid is pumped from the surface and through a U-tube device below the pull tube. At least one inverted drainhole is drilled using force from the pumping fluid. The pull tube is pulled upward vertically toward the surface while pumping the fluid.

A high pressure slurry plunger pump is described which provides a clean fluid buffer around the suction and discharge valves of the pump and in some cases in the vicinity of the plunger seal mechanism in order to displace erosive slurry material and thus extend the life of the pump and improve pump efficiency.

A compact cyclonic separator is described which can handle mixtures of solids, liquids and gases in one vessel and provide continuous separation. The invention operates by providing tangential flow into a vertical cylindrical tube and utilizing the tangential flow and gravity to separate into a gas stream, a clean liquids stream, and a solid rich slurry mixture. Several embodiments for controlling the flow of the solid rich slurry mixture are described.

An inverted motor with a drilling utensil attached to or integrated as part of an outer motor housing that rotates around a fixed non-rotating shaft or tube. The non-rotating shaft or tube is attached to a fixed base and can extend to the end or past the end of the drilling utensil. A rotary motor is positioned between the outer rotating housing and center fixed shaft and imparts force and motion to the housing and drilling utensil. A channel traverses through the length of the shaft or tube to allow fluids or wires to fully or partially bypass the motor.
