Embodiments of the present disclosure includes systems and methods for diagnosing and correcting deficiencies in operation of integrated circuits. A set of operational data of an integrated circuit is received by a network via a communication interface. A deficiency in operation of the integrated circuit is diagnosed based on the set of operational data. A correction is generated for improving operation of the integrated circuit based on the deficiency diagnosed. The correction is transmitted over the network via the communication interface to the integrated circuit.

Cloud assisted calibration of analog-to-digital converters

A receiver includes a variable resolution analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and variable resolution processing logic/circuitry. The processing logic may use feed-forward equalization (FFE) techniques to process the outputs from the ADC. When receiving data from a channel having low attenuation, distortion, and/or noise, the ADC and processing logic may be configured to sample and process the received signal using fewer bits, and therefore less logic, than when configured to receiving data from a channel having a higher attenuation, distortion, and/or noise. Thus, the number of (valid) bits output by the ADC, and subsequently processed (e.g., for FFE equalization) can be reduced when a receiver of this type is coupled to a low loss channel. These reductions can reduce power consumption when compared to operating the receiver using the full (i.e., maximum) number of bits the ADC and processing logic is capable of processing.

Variable resolution digital equalization

Disclosed is a successive approximation register (SAR) analog to digital converter (ADC) that uses two or more comparators. This allows the output of one comparator to be latched while the other comparators are comparing and switching. Statistical measures are used to correct the offsets of one or more of the comparators. If a statistically significant mismatch in the number of 1's and 0's occurs in a subset of the bits, adjustments to the offsets of one or more of the comparators are made until there is roughly an equal number of 1 and 0 values. This can reduce or eliminate the need for dedicated offset correction cycles.

Offset calibration for successive approximation register analog to digital converter

Embodiments of the present disclosure include techniques for calibrating analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), such as successive approximation register SAR ADCs. In one embodiment, a pattern is applied to the input of an ADC to produce digital output codes. Counts of the digital output codes are used detect errors and adjust a clock delay of a comparator in the ADC. In other embodiments, an ADC calibration circuit is coupled to a calibration algorithm executing on a remote server to calibrate one or more ADCs.

SAR analog-to-digital converter calibration

Examples are disclosed herein that relate to automatically limiting an output current of a voltage regulator circuit responsive to detecting that the voltage regulator is in a current overload mode. In one example, a voltage regulator circuit includes an amplifier stage and a current limiter stage electrically connected to an output of the amplifier stage. The amplifier stage is configured to output a DC voltage based on a reference voltage and feedback from an output voltage. The current limiter stage is configured to operate in a quiescent mode and an overload mode. In the quiescent mode, the current limiter stage is configured to operate as a buffer stage that forms a closed feedback loop to an input of the amplifier stage. In the overload mode, the current limiter stage is configured to act as a current source that clamps an output current to a designated current.

Voltage regulator circuit with current limiter stage

An apparatus comprising M time-interleaved analog to digital converters (ADC) that sample an input signal at M sampling phases, wherein M is equal to or greater than 4. A phase control circuit adjusts at least M&#x2212;1 sampling phases of the M sampling phases. The phase control circuit comprises M&#x2212;1 phase error detector circuits. Each phase error detector circuit detects a corresponding phase error for a corresponding sampling phase of the M&#x2212;1 sampling phases based on a sample captured at a sampling phase of the M sampling phases immediately preceding the corresponding sampling phase and a sample captured at a sampling phase of the M sampling phases immediately subsequent to the corresponding sampling phase.

Phase adjustment for interleaved analog to digital converters

Photodetectors, methods for use in manufacturing photodetectors, and systems including photodetectors, are described herein. In an embodiment, a photodetector includes a plurality of photodiode regions, at least some of which are covered by an optical filter. A plurality of metal layers are located between the photodiode regions and the optical filter. The metal layers include an uppermost metal layer that is closest to the optical filter and a lowermost metal layer that is closest to the photodiode regions. One or more inter-level dielectric layers separate the metal layers from one another. Each of the metal layers includes one or more metal portions and one or more dielectric portions. The uppermost metal layer is devoid of any metal portions underlying the optical filter.

Photodetectors useful as ambient light sensors and methods for use in manufacturing the same

Examples are provided for a multi-stage track-and-hold circuit (THA). The multi-stage THA may include a first stage, a second stage, and a third stage. The first stage may be coupled to an input signal and configured to sample the input signal. The second stage may be coupled to the first stage and may include a buffer circuit. The third stage may be coupled to the second stage and can include a bootstrapped THA. The first stage may further include a shunted source-follower circuit and a switched source-follower circuit. The shunted source-follower circuit may include a first switch that can be operable to couple an output node of the shunted source-follower circuit to ground potential.
