A coating composition, particularly a clearcoat composition, which may be a two-component clearcoat composition, comprises a film-forming material, a crosslinking agent, and a nonlinear polysiloxane polymer having a functional group reactive with the crosslinking agent. The coating composition exhibits excellent scratch resistance and adhesion of repair coating layers and sealants, such as windshield sealants.

A silicone composition having a continuous phase of a polar organic liquid including particles of a silicone active material encapsulated within an organic encapsulating material which is a solid at 25&deg; C. The silicone active material is sparingly soluble in the polar organic liquid at 25&deg; C., but is substantially dissolved in the polar organic liquid at temperatures of from 40 to 100&deg; C. The three phase contact angle between the organic encapsulating material, the silicone antifoam, and the polar organic liquid is below 130&deg; C., with the angle measured through the silicone.

Traction fluids

Traction fluids suitable for operations under widely varying temperature environments, particularly having excellent low temperature properties are described. The tractions fluids comprise blends of organic oils and siloxane compositions. The siloxane compositions may include MTQ, MT, MQ, MDT, MDM, or D units in varying molar percents.

The present invention relates to a method for controlling foam in a foam producing system comprising adding to the foam producing system a dispersible silicone composition comprising (I) a silicone composition prepared by reacting (i) a polyorganosiloxane, (ii) a silicon compound, optionally (iii) a finely divided filler, and (iv) a catalytic amount of a compound for promoting the reaction of the other components and (II) a hydrocarbon oil. The hydrocarbon oil is effective as a dispersing agent for the silicone composition (I). The hydrocarbon oil-containing compositions are easier to handle, and produce less waste and its dispersion into mineral oil based formulations is more efficient.

Method for controlling foam

A silicone-based antifoam composition, in the form of an emulsion, is prepared from the reaction of (A) a primary silicone composition and (B) a polydiorganosiloxane having condensable terminal groups in a nonpolar organic medium selected from the group consisting of polyisobutylene and mineral oil. The reaction of the primary silicone composition (A) and the polydiorganosiloxane (B) produces a secondary silicone composition, which forms the discontinuous phase of the emulsion and the nonpolar organic medium forms the continuous phase of the emulsion. The resulting composition of the invention exhibits antifoam efficacy greater than that of the primary silicone composition.

A mixture of carbonyl iron powder and a silicone resin containing silica siloxane units and silanol groups can be stabilized for storage by mixing a stabilizing amount of an halosilane with the mixture; monochlorosilanes are preferred. The small amount of halosilane that is needed can be further reduced by vacuuming the mixture before adding the halosilane. The stabilized compositions are useful as reactive components in curable silicone mixtures.

The present invention relates to an organopolysiloxane compound having at least one group having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.3 is a divalent hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are selected from a hydrogen atom or a group having the formula --(C.sub.n H.sub.2n+1) where n has a value from 1 to 30, R.sup.4 is selected from a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, or an aryl group, d has a value from 0 to 150, and e has a value from 0 to 150, with the proviso that the value of d+e is greater than zero. The organopolysiloxane compounds of this invention reduce the amount of foam in hydrocarbon fuel, especially in diesel fuels and jet fuels. The organopolysiloxane compounds act as foam control agents which display consistent compatibility and miscibility with additives which are frequently present in hydrocarbon fuels.

Radar attenuating compositions comprising a low viscosity siloxane polymer, a resinous crosslinker therefor and carbonyl iron powder have improved thermal stability when exposed to temperatures as high as 450.degree. F. The particular crosslinker that is used in the compositions of this invention provides improved stability for the compositions at room temperature storage conditions and also in the cured form. The compositions can be sprayed and/or molded and cured at room temperature and/or elevated temperatures, as desired.

The organopolysiloxane compound acts as a foam control agent which displays consistent compatibility and miscibility with additives which are frequently present in hydrocarbon fuels.

Organosilicone materials that are 'density-matched' to the hydrocarbon medium also act as defoamers in hydrocarbon fuel, specifically as described herein for diesel fuel. Specifically these new defoamers can be described as alkylmethylsiloxanes. They have the characteristics of being slightly soluble or insoluble in water and hydrocarbon fuels.
