An electronic device includes a display with a glass planar portion and a second material position at an outer edge of the glass planar portion. The glass planar portion defines a majority of a display surface of the display, and the second material is molded to the outer edge of the glass planar portion and defines at least part of a border portion. The second material is curved in a direction perpendicular to the display surface. The second material is composed of a first plurality of segments and a second plurality of segments. Each segment of the second plurality of segments is interposed between adjacent segments of the first plurality of segments, and the first plurality of segments interlock with the second plurality of segments.

Systems and methods for overmolding on electronic device surfaces

Enclosure covers for mobile computing devices are often formed from planar sections of sheet metal that form opposing outer-most layers thereof. The enclosure covers generally enclose and protect internal components. Enclosure covers for mobile computing devices are typically made from planar extrusions of aluminum with subsequent computer numerical control (CNC) machining and other processing steps to achieve complex shapes. Machining can be particularly wasteful of material and numerous processing steps are time-consuming and costly. The presently disclosed variable thickness enclosure covers sourced from extruded sheets of variable thickness reduce or eliminate machining and other processing steps typically required to achieve a desired complex shape. This is accomplished by extruding a shape closer to the desired shape of the variable thickness enclosure cover than presently known.

Examples are disclosed that relate to aligning a pressure sensitive adhesive to a body of a display device for attachment of a display module to the display device. One example provides an electronic display device comprising a body, the body comprising a wall and a deck extending inwardly from the wall. The deck comprises a first reference feature configured to interface with a first index feature on a pressure sensitive adhesive application fixture, and a second reference feature configured to interface with a second index feature on the pressure sensitive adhesive application fixture. The electronic display device further comprises a display module supported by the deck, and a pressure sensitive adhesive adhering the display module to the deck.

A connection device includes a first bracket and a second bracket. The first bracket has a base and a post with an opening therethrough and the second bracket has a base and a post with an opening therethrough. A pin is positioned through the opening of the first bracket and the opening of the second bracket to limit the movement of the first bracket relative to the second bracket in a first direction. A compressible member is positioned between at least a portion of the first bracket and at least a portion of the second bracket to limit the movement of the first bracket relative to the second bracket in a second direction.

Systems and methods for display integration

A computing device includes a housing having an inner surface, a first outer surface, a second outer surface, and a side extending between the first outer surface and the second outer surface. The computing device also includes a heat generating electronic device, a first heat spreader, and a second heat spreader. At least a portion of the first heat spreader abuts or is adjacent to the inner surface of the housing. The second heat spreader extends from a first position within the housing, at or adjacent to the heat generating electronic device to a second position within the housing. The second position is closer to the side of the housing than the first position. A first portion of the second heat spreader abuts the first heat spreader, and a second portion of the second heat spreader is at a distance from the first heat spreader.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for improved heat dissipation

Display module support techniques are described. In one or more implementations, an apparatus includes an external enclosure forming a cavity and a touch display module. The touch display module includes a touch panel assembly having one or more touch sensors and a display module to output a display through at least a portion of the touch panel assembly. The apparatus also includes a support that secures the touch display module to the external enclosure. The support is secured to the external enclosure using a reworkable connection.

An electronic device with a magnetically attached electronic component is described herein. An electronic device includes a housing and an electronic component. The electronic component is positioned within the housing and magnetically attached to an internal surface of the housing via a magnetic force between the electronic component and the internal surface of the housing. During manufacturing, the electronic component can be magnetically attached to the internal surface of the housing by aligning one or more magnetic attachment points of the electronic component within magnetic proximity to one or more corresponding magnetic attachment points of the internal surface of the housing of the electronic device to magnetically attach the electronic component to the internal surface of the housing.

A curved printed circuit board (PCB) of a computing device is described herein. The computing device includes a housing and a PCB positioned in or on the housing. The computing device also includes a plurality of connectors physically connecting the PCB to a surface of the housing or another surface, such that at least a portion of the PCB is bent.

An electronic connector includes a base and a tapered extension. The tapered extension includes a platform and a plurality of electrical contacts. An alignment tolerant joint couples the tapered extension to the base, such that the tapered extension is movable relative to the base in three orthogonal dimensions responsive to an external force applied to the tapered extension. One or more biasing components bias the tapered extension away from the base.

Disclosed herein are electronic devices with a sensor configured to breakaway from an input button or input/output interface. In one example, the electronic device includes a button positioned within an opening of a chassis or housing. A sensor is in communication with the button, wherein the button is configured to contact the sensor in a first sensor position upon application of an activation force. At least one magnet is configured to retain the sensor in the first sensor position by a frictional or magnetic force. Additionally, the sensor is configured to move from the first sensor position to a second sensor position upon application of a force greater than the frictional or magnetic force and less than a sensor damage force. The activation force is less than the frictional or magnetic force, which is less than the sensor damage force.

The description relates to computing devices, such as mobile computing devices. One example can include a housing containing a processor. This example can also include a transition component configured to automatically change a distance between the processor and a proximate region of the housing based upon a state of the processor.
