Methods for easily manufacturing a foot-covering component of a stocking foot wader including an effective gravel guard, and a foot-covering component including a gravel guard manufactured by such methods are disclosed. Preferably, the gravel guard is connected to the exterior surface of the leg-covering member and below the interior connection between the foot-covering member and the leg-covering member to provide a substantially watertight connection between the foot-covering member and the leg-covering member.

A preferred embodiment is a fishing shirt comprising: a body portion, said body portion being fabricated from a breathable, knitted fabric having a wicking finish; a collar portion and a yoke portion, said collar portion and said yoke portion being fabricated from a four-way stretch fabric having a wicking finish; a pair of lower sleeve portions, each of said lower sleeve portions being fabricated from a non-wicking, hydrophobic fabric; and a pair of underarm portions, each of said underarm portions being fabricated from a knit, anti-microbial fabric.

A fishing vest including a retractor pocket which is inverted so that it opens downwardly when the vest is worn is provided by the invention. In a preferred embodiment, the fishing vest includes two retractor pockets. A first retractor pocket is provided between the upper left breast pocket and the neckline, and a second retractor pocket is provided between the upper right breast pocket and the neckline. Outerwear is provided. The outerwear includes an outer shell having a neckline, a left armhole, a right armhole, a bottom edge, and being constructed so as to fit over a human chest. The outerwear includes a plurality of utility pockets for storing accessories and being attached to the outer shell. At least one of the utility pockets includes a pocket back side and a pocket front side, and the pocket back side and the outer shell form a retractor receiving area having an opening for accessing the retractor receiving area. A retractor is attached to the outerwear and is provided within the retractor receiving area. The outerwear can include left and right sleeves including breathable cuffs. A method for manufacturing outerwear is provided according to the invention.
