Techniques are disclosed for delivering push subscription notifications in large scale distributed systems. Subscription notifications can be delivered to mobile devices of subscribing users by monitoring, at a server, an application database comprising a data record having one or more data values, detecting, at the server, in accordance with the monitoring, a changed data value, querying a subscription database for a subscription having at least one constant value to be compared to the changed data value in accordance with a trigger condition specified in a trigger template, determining whether the trigger condition is true using the changed data value and the constant value as the values of the first and second variables, respectively, in the at least one comparison; and pushing a notification from the server in response to the trigger condition being true.

Methods and apparatus to identify at least a first portion and a second portion of resources to restore to a device are described. The first portion of the resources may be restored atomically to the device before the second portion of the resources. The device may not respond to at least one user input during the restoration of the first portion of the resources. If the restoring of the first portion is successful, the second portion of the resources may be restored. The device may respond to the user input during the restoring of the second portion of the resources.

Methods and apparatus for multi-phase restore

Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for wireless data protection utilizing cryptographic key management on a primary device and a backup device. A system encrypts a file with a file key and encrypts the file key twice, resulting in two encrypted file keys. The system encrypts each file key differently and stores a first file key on the primary device and transmits one of the encrypted file keys in addition to the encrypted file to a backup device for storage. On the backup device, the system associates the encrypted file key with a set of backup keys protected by a user password. In one embodiment, the system generates an initialization vector for use in cryptographic operations based on a file key. In another embodiment, the system manages cryptographic keys on a backup device during a user password change.

System and method for wireless data protection

Disclosed herein is a technique for providing status feedback on the execution of a database request. The technique involves receiving a database request that defines an operation to be performed on at least one data record stored in a database. The data record is updated in the database in accordance with the operation, and one or more tasks that are to be performed in connection to the operation are scheduled for execution. A first version of a receipt is generated and provided to the application, and includes, for each of the one or more tasks, a status field that indicates a progress of executing the task. The method further includes the steps of, in response to a change in the execution of any of the one or more tasks, updating the status fields to produce a second version of the receipt, which is then provided to the application.

Method for issuing multipart receipts in connection to extensive database operations

Methods and apparatus that restore a resource from a first source and a second source to a device are described. Availability of the resource from a second source may be dynamically determined after a portion of the resource has been restored to the device from the first source. If the second source is determined to be more efficiently connected with the device than the first source, a remaining portion of the resource may be restored from the second source to the device after the portion of the resource has been restored to the device.

Methods and apparatus for multi-source restore

Methods and apparatus that identify a change of resources in a device to a first backup source are described. In response to receiving a token from the first backup source for authorization to a second backup source, the change of resources can be backed up to the second backup source with the token. The change of resources can be committed to the first backup source if the back up of the change to the second backup source is successful.

Methods and apparatus for multi-phase multi-source backup

Methods and apparatus to restore resources to a device according to an order of the resources requested by a user are described. The restoration may be interrupted in response to a user request to update an order to restore remaining resources yet to restore. The remaining resources may be restored according to the updated order.

Methods and apparatus for interface in multi-phase restore

Methods and apparatus that receive, at a wireless device, power through wire or inductive pad are described. The received power is monitored to back up data from the device to a server in a network through an OTA (over the air) wireless interface. The data is transmitted to the server to back up the data on the device. While backing up the data, whether the power has been removed from the device is determined. The backing up of the data in the device can be terminated automatically and without user request, in response to the determination that the power has been removed.

Methods and apparatus for power state based backup

Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for initiating a backup, backing up encrypted data, and restoring backed up encrypted data. The method for initiating a backup includes sending a backup secret to a backup device having an encrypted file system, receiving from the backup device a backup ticket created based on the backup secret, and storing the backup ticket. The method for backing up encrypted data includes receiving a backup ticket and a backup secret, retrieving an escrow key bag containing protection class keys, decrypting the protection class keys with the backup ticket, generating a backup key bag containing new protection class keys, selecting a set of encrypted files to back up, decrypting the file encryption keys with corresponding decrypted protection class keys, re-encrypting the file encryption keys with new protection class keys, and transferring the selected encrypted files, the backup key bag, and metadata.
