A method is described performed by a wireless communication network for recovering a public warning system when a radio network node comprising radio circuitry for communication with served user equipments, UEs, has been newly added or restarted in the network. The method comprises sending, by the radio network node to a core network node, information indicating that the radio network node has been restarted or added to the network, the information including one or more tracking area identifiers, TAI, identifying one or more tracking areas that the radio network node supports and/or a radio network node identifier, ID, identifying the radio network node in the communication network, and, in case the radio network node ID is sent but not the one or more TAIs, acquiring, by the core network node the one or more TAIs based on the received radio network node ID.

Methods, wireless communication networks and network nodes for recovering a public warning system

Disclosed is a method performed by a position calculation node () in a wireless communication network (). The node () is arranged for improving accuracy when determining positions in the wireless communication network. The method comprises obtaining a signal transport time value for each of a plurality of different geographical UE positions (UE, UE, UE), wherein the respective signal transport time value relates to the time it takes for a radio signal to travel between a first base station and one of the plurality of UE positions. The method further comprises obtaining a geographical position value for each of the plurality of different geographical UE positions, the position values being independent of the signal transport time values, and determining an actual geographical position for the first base station, based on the obtained signal transport time values, the obtained position values and a predefined geographical position for the first base station.

Improving accuracy when determining positions in a wireless network

The present invention relates to methods and arrangements of optimizing radio resource utilization at a group communication for members of a specific group in a communication network system, comprising communication network nodes () communicating over a radio interface on downlink () and uplink () radio bearers with a plurality of user equipments () each of which is associated with one of said members. A shared downlink radio bearer for low priority listening members of said specific group is established. The low priority listening members are assigned to the shared downlink radio bearer.

Methods and arrangements for optimizing radio resource utilization at group communications

A base station generates and sends measurement configuration to a wireless terminal. The measurement configuration indicates the measurements to be made by the wireless terminals and to report on the performed measurements to the base station. The measurement configuration indicates that the measurements are to be performed and to be reported based on a prioritization level. The prioritization can be indicated at various levels including the measurement identities level, the measurement objects level, and the reporting configurations level.

A method in a first network node for handling a GBR bearer is provided. The first network node is comprised in a communications system. Method and arrangement in a communications system for handling a GBR bearer

A wireless communication network automatically tests itself for sleeping cells. This is done by designing the base stations to regularly act as a terminal, contact its neighboring base stations and as a mobile perform a set of typical traffic cases. From the outcome of the traffic cases the probing base station detects neighboring base stations that cannot carry traffic. The information about sleeping cells is subsequently communicated from the base station to the operation and maintenance system.

Method of monitoring cells in wireless communication systems

A first radio base station (RBS) is operated to cause trace log information to be supplied to a trace log storage node. The RBS becomes responsible for serving a user equipment session, and at some point begins a trace process. When the session report criterion has been satisfied, a trace status indication is alternatively sent to or received from a second radio base station, the trace status indication including an indicator of a session report cause and a time of satisfying the session report criterion. The indicator of the session report cause and the time of satisfying the session report criterion are used to identify a set of trace log information stored in a record buffer. If not empty, the set of trace log information is supplied to the trace log storage node.

Trace log management in a mobile communication system

The technology in this application determines the throughput over a data communication substantially as experienced by a user receiving the data. The determined throughput is substantially independent of the total amount of data transferred over the connection. This 'active' throughput measure is divided into two parts to provide two performance measures: transfer throughput and latency. Latency corresponds to a time period needed to accomplish one or more functions associated with the data connection, like setting up and taking down the connection, during which payload type data to be transferred to an end user is not transferred. By identifying and removing the initial latency from the throughput determination for the data connection, the determined transfer throughput provides a more accurate measure of the throughput actually experienced by the end user.

Method and apparatus for determining latency and throughput of a data communication

A telecommunications system ( ) comprises a control node ( ) and a base station node ( ). The control node ( ) maintains a first list ( ) of idle radio channels which is consulted in order to obtain channels for a first type of telecommunications service. A second list ( ) of idle radio channels is maintained for a specialized telecommunications service, the idle radio channels of the second list being radio channels which are unallocated with respect to the specialized telecommunications service but yet activated (e.g., having an established transmission path and synchronization). The second list of idle radio channels is initially consulted in order to obtain channels for the specialized telecommunications service. If no channels are available for the specialized telecommunications service on the second list, idle channels from the first list are adapted and utilized for the specialized telecommunications service. The specialized telecommunications service preferably involves packet data transfer (e.g., GPRS). As one aspect of the invention, any potential capacity problem is addressed by providing timers for channels on the second list. There is one timer corresponding to each channel on the second list, which timer is started when there is no more traffic ongoing on that channel. The channel remains activated with respect to the specialized telecommunications service, which makes fast specialized service access possible for all such users in that cell. As long as the timer has not expired, the channel on the second list is available for specialized service traffic without any new activation. However, when the timer expires, the channel is released and put on the first list, where it is once again available for all traffic. The timer values can be dynamically, e.g., depending on processor load or traffic load at a cell.

Channel allocation and release for packet data services

In a cellular communications network including microcells and macrocells, a mobile device preferably communicates with an appropriate one of the microcells. When a handover from one microcell to another is imminent, a backup channel in the macrocell layer is allocated to the mobile device, for use if the handover is not successfully completed.
