A supercharger includes a rotor housing defining a pair of cylindrical chambers. A driving shaft bearing is to support a driving rotor shaft for rotation in the rotor housing. A driven shaft bearing is to support a driven rotor shaft for rotation in the rotor housing. An oil sump housing is to enclose a timing gear end of the rotor housing. A shaft seal is disposed between the rotor housing and each respective rotor shaft. The oil sump housing, the rotor housing and driving and driven shaft seals define a closed container for oil to lubricate the driving shaft bearing, the driven shaft bearing, a driving timing gear and a driven timing gear. The oil pools in the closed container and a top surface of the oil is spaced below the timing gears when the driving rotor shaft is in a vertical orientation.

Supercharger

A coupling assembly arranged between an input shaft and a rotor shaft of a supercharger can include a first coupling, a second coupling, a central hub and a plurality of coupler pins. The first coupling can be mounted for concurrent rotation with the input shaft. The second coupling can be mounted for concurrent rotation with the rotor shaft. The central hub can be disposed intermediate the first and second couplings. The central hub defines central hub bores therein. A plurality of coupler pins can be received in the central hub bores. A first plurality of elastomeric inserts can receive first portions of the plurality of coupler pins. A second plurality of elastomeric inserts can receive second portions of the plurality of coupler pins. The first and second elastomeric inserts can provide dampening between (i) the first coupling and the central hub and (ii) the second coupling and the central hub.

Supercharger housing

A supercharger system includes a supercharger main housing enclosing one or more active components for moving air from an upstream side to a downstream side of the supercharger main housing. The system includes a supercharger inlet housing mounted at the upstream side of the supercharger main housing and a re-circulation line. The re-circulation line provides fluid communication between the downstream side of the supercharger main housing and the supercharger inlet housing. The line includes a flow diverter having first and second portions within the supercharger inlet housing. The first portion defines a first re-circulation flow direction and the second portion defines a second re-circulation flow direction. The second direction may be 45-135 degrees relative to the first recirculation direction.
