A cable guide includes a base for positioning the cable guide on a base surface of an internal area of a telecommunications chassis. The base is generally planar. The cable guide includes a plurality of arms and at least one arm of the plurality of arms is flexible. The cable guide includes a plurality of cable channels that are defined by the plurality of arms. The plurality of cable channels each receive a plurality of furcation tubes. Each of the plurality of cable channels is configured to allow furcation tubes to move within each of the plurality of cable channels. Each cable channel has an open position and a closed position. When in the open position, furcation tubes can be loaded and unloaded into and out of the cable channel. When in the closed position, furcation tubes are restricted from being removed from the cable channel.

Freestanding telecommunications cable guide that is both movable and slidable

A multi-fiber cable assembly includes a pigtail segments spliced to a trunk segment using multiple mass fusion splices. The splices are disposed within an encapsulation at a common axial location. A flexible conduit extends from one end of the encapsulation to protect bare fibers of the trunk segment. A protective sheath extends from the opposite end of the encapsulation to protect the pigtail segments. The conduit and sheath are axially fixed to the encapsulation.

Terminating a cable assembly with connectorized pigtails

A main fanout includes a plurality of intermediate fanout devices that are connected to one another. Each intermediate fanout device can be assembled separately and then connected together to form the main fanout. Each intermediate fanout device is connected to an intermediate cable of a main cable and a plurality of optical fibers of each intermediate cable is positioned within at least one furcation tube. The plurality of optical fibers and at least one furcation tube are secured to a main body of each intermediate fanout device. Each intermediate fanout device includes a mating feature to connect to adjacent intermediate fanout devices with a like mating feature. The mating feature reduces relative movement between adjacent intermediate fanout devices.

Fiber optic fanout with intermediate portions and method of assembly

Certain splice arrangements include first and second laminate structures bonded around a splice location at which two or more optical fibers are spliced (e.g., fusion spliced) together. The first and second laminate structures each include a flexible polymeric sheet and a heat activated adhesive layer carried by the flexible polymeric sheet. Other splice arrangements include a protective barrier disposed about an optical splice. The protective barrier includes first and second protective layers bonded around the optical splice. Each protective layer include a film carrying an adhesive. The protective barrier may be sufficiently flexible to not restrict flexing the optical fibers at the splice location. Example splice arrangements have thicknesses of less than or equal to 1000 microns, or 900 microns, or 800 microns, or 700 microns, or 600 microns or 500 microns.

Laminate splice protector

A fiber optic cable transition assembly for transitioning a plurality of optical fibers from a multi-fiber cable to a plurality of furcation tubes. The fiber optic transition assembly has a housing with a front opening and an internal passageway that is defined by a wall and a narrow region. The housing is adapted to receive epoxy adhesive. The fiber optic transition assembly has a boot that is positioned at least partially inside the housing for receiving the multi-fiber cable to provide strain relief to the plurality of optical fibers extending therethrough. The fiber optic transition assembly has a plug supported by the boot and retained by the housing to prevent epoxy adhesive from entering the multi-fiber cable.

A system for gripping the outside jacket of a cable including a flexible gripper having a serpentine shape, teeth on one side and retention channels on another side. The retention channels each receive a cable tie.

Cable retention device, system and method

A fiber optic connector includes a front housing having sidewalls each defining a slot and a rear insert with a pair of locking flanges extending radially away, the locking flanges configured to snap-fit into the slots, each locking flange defining a front face and a rear face, the radially outermost portion of the rear face defining an edge, the edge being the rearmost extending portion of the locking flange. Another fiber optic connector includes a front housing defining a front opening at a front end, a circular rear opening at a rear end, and an internal cavity extending therebetween. A rear insert including a generally cylindrical front portion is inserted into the front housing through the circular rear opening, the front portion defining at least one longitudinal flat configured to reduce the overall diameter of the generally cylindrical front portion configured to be inserted into the front housing.

LC connector and method of assembly

A fiber optic connector assembly includes a connector and a carrier. The connector has a first mating end and a second end and a first optical fiber terminated thereto. The fiber defines a first end adjacent the mating end and a second end protruding from the second end of the connector. A polymeric carrier having a connector end and an oppositely disposed cable end is engaged with the connector. The carrier includes a heat activated meltable portion adjacent the cable end. An alignment structure is disposed on the carrier that includes a first end, a second end, and a throughhole. The first end of the alignment structure is for receiving the second end of the first optical fiber and the second end of the alignment structure is for receiving an end of a second optical fiber entering the cable end of the carrier. The heat activated portion of the carrier is configured to melt and assume a flowable condition when exposed to a predetermined amount of heat and resolidify when the heat is removed for bonding the second optical fiber to the carrier after the first fiber is aligned with the second fiber.

Field terminable fiber optic connector assembly

An assembly includes a connector and a carrier engaged therewith. Connector has a first mating end and a second end and a first fiber. The fiber defines a first end adjacent the mating end and a second end protruding from the connector second end. Carrier has a connector end and an opposite cable end and includes a heat activated meltable portion adjacent the cable end. An alignment structure is on the carrier and includes first and second ends, and a throughhole. The first end of the alignment structure receives the second end of the first fiber and the second end receives an end of a second fiber entering the carrier. The heat activated portion melts and assumes a flowable condition when exposed to a predetermined amount of heat and resolidifies when heat is removed, bonding the second fiber to the carrier after the first and second fibers are aligned.

A hybrid fiber/copper connector assembly which permits repair of damaged fibers or copper conductors carried by a hybrid fiber/copper cable without requiring replacement of the entire connector assembly or the cable is disclosed. The hybrid fiber/copper connector assembly disclosed also allows individual hybrid fiber/copper connectors of the assembly to be converted from one gender to a different gender. The hybrid fiber/copper connector assembly disclosed also allows the individual hybrid fiber/copper connectors of the assembly to be converted from being hybrid fiber/copper connectors to being only fiber connectors or only copper connectors.
