The present disclosure relates to a dose detection system for use with a medication delivery device in which a dose setting member rotates relative to an actuator during dose delivery. The dose detection system includes a module which is removably attached to the medication delivery device. The module includes a rotation sensor attached to the actuator during dose delivery. A sensed element is attached to the dose setting member and includes surface features detectable by the rotation sensor. The rotation sensor comprises a following member including a contact portion resting against and spring-biased in the direction of the surface features. The contact surface is positioned to move over the surface features during rotation of the sensed element, and the rotation sensor is responsive to the movement of the contact portion over the surface features to detect the rotation of the dose setting member.

The present application discloses a sensor system that includes a sensor having a sensor surface, a sample cartridge including one or more flexible membranes and a membrane frame, the membrane frame including one or more openings covered by the one or more flexible membranes defining one or more wells for holding one or more samples, the flexible membrane having a sample side supporting the sample and an opposite sensor side, the sample cartridge being removably insertable in the sensor system such that the sensor side of the flexible membrane is positioned above and faces the sensor surface, a displacement mechanism that can be actuated to displace the flexible membrane toward the sensor surface such that the sample is moved to a position closer to the sensor surface, and an optical imaging system that detects light emitted from the sensor. Disclosed also are a cartridge cassette and a method of use.

Methods and apparatus for sample measurement

The present disclosure relates to a dose detection system for use with a medication delivery device in which a dose setting member rotates relative to an actuator during dose delivery. The dose detection system comprises a module including a rotation sensor attached to the actuator during dose delivery. A sensed element is attached to the dose setting member and includes first gear teeth. The rotation sensor comprises a driven gear including second gear teeth. The second gear teeth are operatively received by the first gear teeth and are driven in rotation as the first gear teeth rotate during dose delivery. The rotation sensor is responsive to the rotation of the second gear teeth to detect the rotation of the dose setting member.

Methods, systems, and devices are described herein for various embodiments of using a sample analysis system to analyze a sample of bodily fluid from a user to determine parameters associated with the user including states of hydration, dehydration, rehydration, electrolyte loss, wellness, recovery, and the like. In some embodiments, the methods disclosed can be implemented using a device worn by a user, and operatively coupled to a sample analysis system configured to collect a sample of bodily fluid, and measure and analyze the bodily fluid to determine a property of the bodily fluid and/or a physiological/wellness parameter (e.g., degree of hydration, electrolyte losses, perspiration rate, etc.) of the user.

Some embodiments include a privacy/security apparatus for a portable communication device that includes a housing assembly configured to attenuate acoustic and light energy, and an audio channel comprising a microphone and speaker that can play input derived primarily from either the microphone or from a different audio source. The privacy/security apparatus includes a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) that can receive the input from the microphone and provide the input to the speaker or process the microphone input prior to providing speaker, and seed to generate a masking signal provided to one or more speakers with an output that is played to one or more microphones of a portable communication device. Further, the privacy/security apparatus includes a microprocessor configured and arranged to: i. load software on the DSP, and ii. provide control of a user interface that controls at least some functions of the apparatus.

An apparatus for delivering a pharmaceutical liquid to a patient includes an outer casing; a needle cassette housed in the casing and containing a plurality of mutually parallel drug injection needles; a drug cartridge housed in the casing, containing a liquid and including a sealable aperture for accessing the liquid; a direct drive assembly housed in the casing and engageable with the drug cartridge to expel a measured dose of the liquid through the aperture; a lifter assembly housed in the casing and engageable with the needle cassette to drive one of the plurality of needles partially out of the casing and into a patient while also accessing the liquid in the drug cartridge through the scalable aperture, and thereafter to withdraw the needle from the patient while halting access of the liquid through the sealable aperture after the measured dose of the liquid has been administered through the needle; motor means in the casing for driving the direct drive assembly and the lifter assembly; computer means for activating the direct drive assembly and the lifter assembly; and a control panel for enabling a user to activate the apparatus.

A needle mounting assembly for mounting a pen needle in fluid communication with a medication cartridge. A collet defines an opening in which is slidably fittable the outlet end of the cartridge. The collet is shiftable relative to the cartridge outlet end. When the collet is disposed in a first axial position, a plurality of fingers of the collet extend forward of the cartridge outlet end and are disposed in a first radial arrangement in which a needle hub of the pen needle can be freely axially placed onto and freely axially removed from the plurality of fingers. When the collet is moved to a second position, the plurality of fingers are shifted by engagement with the cartridge outlet end to operationally secure the needle hub. When the collet is moved back to the first position, the plurality of fingers shift back for free axial removal of the needle hub from the mounting assembly.

A dispenser assembly that can be used as a dispenser on a container includes a dispenser body having a flow passage, and a porous flow control member positioned in the flow passage such that the liquid must pass through at least a portion of the porous flow control member before being dispensed. The porous flow control member is operable to vary a resistance to flow of the liquid through the dispenser assembly during dispensing. A valve is provided and is movable between an open position that allows the liquid to be dispensed and a closed position that prevents the liquid from being dispensed. A discharge spout directs the flow of liquid discharged from the container. A dip tube is attached to the dispenser body and extends inside the container to supply the liquid to be discharged to the dispenser body. An attachment portion is provided to attach the dispenser assembly to the container.
