A fluid pump includes a pump housing having a housing cavity with an inlet and an outlet. A diffuser is located within the housing cavity, and includes a portion that is attached to the housing. The diffuser has a diffuser cavity, in which a stator assembly and canister are located. The canister provides a seal where it contacts the diffuser; this isolates the stator assembly from the fluid. The stator assembly provides a magnetic field which drives a rotor assembly. The rotor assembly rotates an impeller, which pumps the fluid from the inlet to the outlet.

A fluid pump includes a pump housing having a housing cavity with an inlet and an outlet. An encapsulated stator assembly is positioned within the housing cavity and at least partially defines a fluid passage from the inlet to the outlet. A polymeric capsule member encloses and seals the encapsulated stator assembly, protecting the motor from, and providing heat transfer to, the working fluid. A stator provides a magnetic field which drives a rotor assembly. The rotor assembly rotates an impeller for pumping fluid from the inlet to the outlet.

A fluid level sensor and a method of operating the oil level sensor to measure the fluid level and dielectric strength of the fluid substantially simultaneously. The fluid level sensor having a compensator capacitor normally fully submerged within the fluid and a linear capacitor variably submerged as a function of fluid level. Oscillators convert the capacitance of the linear and compensator capacitors into a first and second frequency respectively. A processor uses the two frequencies and calibration data stored in a memory to calculate the fluid level and dielectric strength substantially simultaneously. The dielectric strength calculation may be based upon an offset from the second frequency from a known frequency of a known dielectric strength. The fluid level calculation may be based upon a ratio of a numerator to a denominator where the numerator is a difference between the second frequency and a second focal point frequency, and the denominator is a difference between the first frequency and a first focal point frequency.

An electric air charger for use with an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The air charger includes an impeller for supplying air to the engine. A housing surrounds the impeller and has an air inlet and an air outlet adapted to couple the air supplied by the impeller to the engine. The air inlet and the air outlet are substantially axially aligned. The air charger further includes an electric motor for controllably rotating the impeller.

A fluid pump includes a housing having a passage therethrough with an inlet and an outlet. An impeller is positioned within the housing and includes an impeller axis, an inlet side and an outlet side. The impeller is axially supported only at the outlet side, and is configured to direct fluid at an acute angle relative to the impeller axis. A switched reluctance motor is secured to the housing for rotating the impeller for pumping fluid from the inlet to the outlet.
