In a power supply control apparatus for controlling turn-on/turn-off of power of a main power supply to a load via a switch section, a drive signal producing section produces a drive signal for controlling ON/OFF operations of the switch section, based on an activation signal output from an activating section. A standby power supply supplies operation power to the activating sectionand the drive signal producing section. A power failure monitoring section produces an energization signal indicative of a result of monitoring of an output of the main power supply, and outputs the signal to the activating section. The activating section outputs the activation signal based on the energization signal.

Supply control apparatus and power supply control method

The CATV system includes a center device and a plurality of terminal devices. The center device sends downstream timeslots, to the terminal devices, including upstream timeslots occupancy information and collision information. Upstream timeslot occupancy information indicates whether or not an upstream timeslot corresponding to the downstream timeslot is vacant, and collision information indicates whether or not a collision has occurred. The terminal device receives the downstream timeslot, checks upstream timeslot occupancy information to detect upstream timeslot in the vacant state, and sends upstream data to the center device via the vacant upstream timeslot. If the upstream timeslot makes a collision, the center device detects it and sends a downstream timeslot which includes collision information indicative of the occurrence of the collision. The user of the terminal device recognizes the collision having occurred or not by referring to the collision information.

CATV communication system, method of communication by the same, and center and terminal devices thereof

The CATV system includes a center device and a plurality of terminal devices. A CATV telephone system includes a center device and a plurality of terminal devices connected by wired communication lines. The center device receives a request data from the terminal device, examines the frequency bands and the time slots currently occupied, allocates non-busy frequency bands and non-busy time slots to the transmission frequency band, the transmission time slot, the reception frequency band and the reception time slot, and notifies the allocation to the terminal device. Then, the terminal device transmits telephone data to the center device using the transmission frequency band and the transmission time slot designated by the center device, and receives telephone data from the center device using the reception frequency band and the reception time slot designated by the center device.

A remote control system for an audio/video system has a first remote controller for transmitting a first remote control signal for designating and operating one of the A/V devices. In accordance with the first remote control signal, an operational mode for a designated A/V device is set. A second remote control signal transmitter is provided for transmitting a second remote control signal for operating the designated A/V device in accordance with the set operational mode.

Remote control system for audio/video system

A remote control system is employed with a view to realization of automated/unattended control in supervisory control of power equipment, transportion/traffic equipment, building equipment, home equipment, and the like. This remote control system includes a priority rank determination unit and a control unit on the controlled side where a control signal for controlling the operation of a plurality of electric equipment is inputted through a communication system from the control side. The priority rank determination unit determines an operating priority rank of respective electric equipments on the basis of respective power dissipations of the plurality of electric equipments. The control unit operates respective electric equipments on the basis of the operating priority rank thus determined. By controlling the operation of the electric equipment in this way, an accident of interruption of the operation of the entire system resulting from the operation of a specific electric equipment is prevented. Further, since this system judges in advance as to whether or not the operation of a specific electric equipment is proper, thus making it possible to prevent in advance the operation of an interrupter, etc., the supervisory control of the system is always maintained.

Remote control system

A memory system including a circuit for switching control of a read-only memory and a random-access memory to allocate addresses thereto. The addresses are switched between the read-only memory and the random-access memory by selecting a mode in which the read-only memory is operated when reading therefrom and the random-access memory is operated when writing thereinto, and a mode in which the random-access memory is operated when reading therefrom and writing thereinto.

Switching circuit for memory devices

A polling pattern generator system for use in a CATV system including a polling pattern generator and a passive data monitor. The polling pattern generator periodically generates polling pattern signals each of which has a specific address code for calling a corresponding terminal unit and a command code for requesting a designated answer from the called terminal unit. The passive data monitor compares an up data signal outputted from the terminal unit in response to the command code with the designated answer requested by the command code and judges whether or not an operational state of the terminal unit is acceptable from the resultant comparison output. The passive data monitor sets the address code in the designated terminal unit.

Polling pattern generator for CATV system

In a cable television system wherein a polling channel is provided for two-way communications between the center and the terminal units, video data signals are transmitted on request from the center to the terminal units during an otherwise idle period in said polling channel.

CATV System

A remote line monitoring device and method for a CATV system in which a center facility is connected to plural terminal units through cables of the system to transmit television signals to subscribers' homes. A plurality of monitoring terminal units are provided along various points of the interconnecting cables. Each of the monitoring terminal units is identified by an unique address. To determine conditions throughout the system, a central monitoring system transmits polling signals on the cables. If an address contained within the polling signals matches with a prestored identifying address, a monitoring terminal unit responds by transmitting data produced by monitoring converter units back to the center facility. The center facility can then display the data or produce indications identifying problems along the cables.

Remote line monitoring method and device for CATV system

A bidirectional data communications system having many remote terminals operating with a central unit includes means at each terminal for reproducing a clock from the incoming data. Upstream data from the terminals to the central unit is transmitted at the same frequency as the incoming data using the reproduced clock from the downstream transmission. At the central unit, the incoming data from each terminal is of arbitrary phase, but must be extracted without delay from the upstream transmission for data processing purposes. A clock signal substantially resynchronized with the data stream is provided by detecting the initial presence of data, and timing the frequency division of a higher frequency original clock so that the phase and frequency of the data match the clock requirements at the central unit.

Bidirectional data communication system

The operative status of an electrical apparatus unit such as a television receiver, incorporating an AC-DC converter, and drawing a substantial amount of current is sensed while differentiating from the usage of a lower amount of current, as when operating in a standby mode. The sensor distinguishes between the standby current waveform and a distinctly different current waveform generated when the AC-DC converter draws current in the mode in which full power is on. The sensor incorporates a reference current detector responsive to the mean of the absolute value of alternating current flowing through a power line to the electrical unit, and a peak value current detector responsive to the peak value of the periodic signal on the power line. A comparator circuit receives outputs from both detectors, and provides an output signal when the ratio therebetween is in excess of a predetermined value, this condition only applying when the AC-DC converter is operative. The comparator may comprise a differential amplifier which periodically triggers a pulse generator to maintain a selected signal level and activate a relay as long as the selected proportionality exists between the peak and mean values of the AC power signal.
