An air-conditioning apparatus includes a compressor, a four-way valve, expansion means, and an indoor heat exchanger, and further includes a check valve disposed between a discharge side of the compressor and the four-way valve, a first solenoid valve disposed between the expansion means and the indoor heat exchanger, and a controller. Opening and closing of the first solenoid valve are controllable. The controller switches the four-way valve and switches the first solenoid valve between open and closed states. When a heating operation is stopped, the controller switches the four-way valve from connection for the heating operation to connection for a cooling operation, closes the first solenoid valve, and then stops the compressor.

A scroll compressor is provided which has favorable assembling property, does not require a thrust bearing, has a bearing structure for bearing a compression section at both sides thereof and has a simple structure of a scroll. The scroll compressor includes a compression section constituted of an orbiting scroll which is provided in a closed container, and in which volutes are substantially symmetrically formed on both surfaces of an orbiting base plate, and a main shaft is penetrated through and fixed to a center portion thereof, and a pair of fixed scrolls and that have the main shaft penetrated through and are placed on both the surfaces of the orbiting scroll, and have volutes which correspond to the respective volutes to respectively form compression chambers, and a motor which is provided in the closed container and drives the main shaft, a suction pipe which is provided in the closed container, and after a suction gas is introduced into the closed container and cools the motor, causes the gas to be sucked into the compression section, and a discharge pipe which is provided in the closed container and discharges the suction gas compressed by the compression section.

Scroll compressor

A scroll compressor includes a compression section having an orbiting scroll with volutes that are substantially symmetrically formed on both surfaces of an orbiting base plate. A main shaft penetrates through and is fixed to a center portion of the base plate. A pair of fixed scrolls is placed on both surfaces of the orbiting scroll, and has volutes which correspond to the respective volutes of the orbiting scroll to form compression chambers. The main shaft has a notch part which is formed at a portion penetrating through the orbiting scroll and fixed scrolls. A slider is provided which has an eccentric hole including a flat slide surface corresponding to the notch part. The slider is fitted to the main shaft where the notch part is formed. The slider is made slidable in a direction orthogonal to a length direction of the main shaft by the flat slide surface.

A scroll compressor that has reduced leakage loss and high efficiency includes an orbiting scroll that has spiral teeth on two surfaces, and a fixed scrolls that face the surfaces of the orbiting scroll and that have spiral teeth that intermesh with the spiral of the orbiting scroll. Tip seals are mounted only to a spiral tooth of one of the fixed scrolls that intermeshes with a spiral tooth of the orbiting scroll and a spiral tooth of the orbiting scroll.
