A thermal transfer image-receiving sheet includes a seal part including at least a receptive layer , a substrate and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer which are laminated in the order mentioned; and a release sheet which is separably adhered to the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer of the seal part . The seal part is provided with a half cut that is useful for separating a part of the seal part from the release sheet . The groove width of the half cut is preferably from 25 to 60 &mgr;m. It is also preferable that the seal part and the release sheet be adhered to each other so that they show continuous and slight changes in peel strength when the seal part is separated from the release sheet . The slight changes in peel strength measured in accordance with JIS Z0237-8.3.1 (180 Degrees Peeling Method) are referably in the range of 1 to 10 g/cm. Further, it is preferable that the mean peel strength be from 10 to 75 g/cm.

There is provided a heat transfer image-receiving sheet comprising a substrate sheet and a dye-receptive layer, the substrate sheet comprising a core substrate; a first resin layer formed on one surface of the core substrate, on which layer the dye-receptive layer is formed; and a second resin layer formed on the other surface of the core substrate, the difference in the degree of heat shrinkage between the first resin layer and the second resin layer being in the range of 0.4% to 2.0%.
