Fretting wear in a pipe connector is avoided in advance. In a connector body (), there is provided a gate member () having spring portions () that allow a pipe (P) to be inserted up to a regular depth while maintaining a contact state with the pipe (P). When a retainer () is pushed in with the pipe (P) being inserted to the connector body () up to the regular depth, locking legs () of the retainer () are locked to a bulge portion () of the pipe (P) and each locking leg () enters between the pipe (P) and the spring portion () and elastically displaces the spring portion () in a direction away from the pipe (P), thereby eliminating the contact state.

Pipe connector

A connector has a pivot shaft extending axially between a pair of flanges of a connector body. The retainer includes a bearing portion at one end, with an expandable insertion slot engageable with the pivot shaft such that the retainer pivots about the pivot shaft. The retainer has a temporary engagement position where a pipe can be inserted and removed and a regular engagement position where a bulge portion of the pipe is engaged preventing the pipe from being removed. A stopper claw formed on an opening edge of the insertion slot contacts with a contact surface, preventing the connector body from pivoting beyond the temporary engagement position. This prevents a condition where the retainer further pivots past the temporary engagement position which can cause the insertion slot to expand and the retainer separating from the pivot shaft.

Connectors incorporating retainers and stopper mechanisms

An inlet hole capable of inserting a pipe thereinto is formed in a pipe joint body along an axis. Retainer attaching holes for attaching with a retainer that prevents detachment of the pipe are formed in a side surface of the pipe joint body to extend therethrough. These retainer attaching holes are configured symmetrically with respect to an X axis passing through a center of the inlet hole as a symmetrical axis. Thus, a circumference of the inlet hole opens symmetrically, so that the heat shrinkage condition after molding is equalized in the circumferential direction. Accordingly, it is not necessary to process a molding pin for the inlet hole with imbalance of heat shrinkage amount in mind, so that the molding pin becomes easy to process. In addition, the retainer can selectively utilize the retainer attaching holes at two positions, so that selective use depending on installation environment can be achieved.

Pipe joints

A pipe fitting includes a slider disposed in an insertion hole of a main body so as to be axially moved and includes a pressed portion which a falling-off preventing flange of a pipe abuts so that the slider is pressed axially when the pipe is inserted into the insertion hole. A fitting checker includes a pair of spreading legs having respective claws, the fitting checker being detachably attached to the main body so that the legs hold the main body. The claws engage the body and the slider so that the fitting checker is not allowed to be detached from the body when the legs are closed. The legs are spread so as to release the claws from engagement with the body and the slider so that the fitting checker is allowed to be detached from the body. Releasing protrusions are formed to protrude from inside portions of the legs of the fitting checker, the releasing protrusions being pressed so that the legs are elastically deformed in respective opening directions. A pressing portion is formed on the slider so as to press the disengaging protrusions of the fitting checker to spread the legs of the latter when the pipe is inserted into the insertion hole to assume a normal fitting position so that the slider is displaced to a normal thrust position.

Pipe fitting with improved fitting checker

A connector includes a body and a clip for fitting on the body. The body has a hose connecting portion and a pipe receiving portion. The pipe receiving portion is adapted to receive a pipe therein and includes a clip fitting part. The clip fitting part has an engaging hole for engagement with an engaging claw formed on the clip. The engaging claw moves from a protruded position for preventing removal of the pipe to a withdrawn position for permitting removal of the pipe from the pipe receiving portion as the operator forces the clip to be enlarged. An enlargement restraining device is provided that is operable to restrain the enlargement of the clip within a predetermined range, so that the clip can reliably resiliently return to the protruded position when the clip is released after the pipe has been removed from the pipe receiving portion.

Connector having enlargement restraining means

A connector includes a body having a pipe receiving portion and includes a clip which cooperates with a removal prevention protrusion formed on the pipe for preventing the pipe from removal from the body. The pipe receiving portion has an inner diameter to permit insertion of at least the pipe. A clip fitting portion is formed on the pipe receiving portion and has engaging holes. The clip is made of resilient material and has a ring-shaped configuration. The clip has both circumferential ends confronting each other. The clip is biased in a direction to reduce its diameter and can expand its diameter for fitting on the clip fitting portion. Engaging claws are formed on the clip and adapted to be inserted into the engaging holes so as to engage the pipe. Each of the engaging claws includes a rear surface which abuts on the pipe when the pipe is inserted and which is formed as an inclined surface for permitting insertion of the pipe. Each of the engaging claws has one lateral surface in the circumferential direction of the clip. The lateral surface is formed as an inclined surface, so that each engaging claw is removed from the corresponding engaging holes when the clip is rotated.
