A torque sensor includes: a torsion bar; a multi-pole magnet; a pair of yokes on an outside of the multi-pole magnet in a radial direction and providing a magnetic circuit in a magnetic field generated by the multi-pole magnet; and a pair of magnetic sensors arranged along a circumferential direction. Each magnetic sensor includes a magnetism sensing part for detecting a magnetic flux density generated in the magnetic circuit, and outputs a detection signal to an external computing device. The magnetic sensors output the detection signals to the external computing device such that the computing device calculates a sum of outputs or a difference of outputs of the magnetic sensors so as to cancel a variation of the outputs produced by a magnetic flux generated from the multi-pole magnet and directly reaching the magnetism sensing parts.

Torque sensor

A stroke amount detecting device includes a magnetism detecting unit, a first magnetic field generating unit and a second magnetic field generating unit. A magnetic pole of the first generating unit and a magnetic pole of the second generating unit, which are opposed to each other, have different polarities. A distance between a gap end of the first generating unit and a gap end of the second generating unit, which are located on a farther side of a rectilinear axis, is smaller than a distance between an open end of the first generating unit and an open end of the second generating unit, which are located on a closer side of the rectilinear axis. The magnetism detecting unit detects a stroke amount of an object based on a magnetic flux generated between the open end of the first generating unit and the open end of the second generating unit.

Stroke amount detecting device

A power supply unit superimposes alternating-current voltage on direct-current voltage and applies it to a motor. As a result, when the motor is rotated, a current containing an alternating-current component flows. Further, the motor includes a capacitor connected in parallel with one phase coil. Owing to this capacitor, the impedance of the motor circuit between brushes is varied according to the rotation of the motor. Variation in impedance appears as variation in the amplitude of the alternating-current component in motor current. A signal processing unit extracts an alternating-current component from the motor current detected by the current detection unit and generates a rotation pulse corresponding to variation in the amplitude. A rotation angle detection unit detects the rotation angle of the motor based on this rotation pulse.

Rotation detector and direct-current motor

A rotation angle detecting device includes a housing, a rotating shaft rotatably held by the housing, a driving gear fixed to the rotating shaft, a driven gear engaged with the driving gear, a magnetic field generating part fixed in the driven gear, having a permanent magnet, and configured to generate a magnetic field, a magnetic sensor element configured to detect a change in the magnetic field due to a rotational movement of the magnetic field generating part, and a signal processor configured to process a signal from the magnetic sensor element for detecting a rotation angle of the rotating shaft. Each of teeth of the driving gear has a first circumferential width, each of teeth of the driven gear has a second circumferential width, and the second circumferential width is greater than the first circumferential width.

Rotation angle detecting device

A pair of cylindrical magnets with cut away portions has been arranged on both sides of a magnetic sensing element in symmetry of rotation, and a yoke surrounds the magnetic sensing element in contact with outer peripheral surfaces of the pair of the cylindrical magnets with cut away portions. The pair of the cylindrical magnets with cut away portions rotates around an axial center with a concurrent axial displacement along with a rotation of a rotating body. The pair of the cylindrical magnets with cut away portions is arranged in inclined manner against an axis-of-rotation of the magnet. Thereby, the rotation and the displacement in the direction of the axis against the magnetic sensing element of the pair of the cylindrical magnets with cut away portions, and the number of times of rotation can be detected by detecting the size of the magnetic flux density by the magnetic sensing element. The pair of the cylindrical magnets with cut away portions improves the size and linearity of the magnetic field on the axial center.

Over one turn rotation angle sensor using rotating magnetic field

A rotation angle detecting device includes a signal generator, a magnetic rotor and a rotation angle calculating unit that calculates a rotation angle &#x3b8; of the rotor based on the output signals of the signal generator. The signal generator includes a magnetic rotor that has a permanent magnet and a shaft connectable with the rotating object and at least three magnetic sensor elements disposed in the magnetic field to generate a plurality of output signals when the rotor rotates. The rotation angle calculating unit calculates a first candidate of the rotation angle &#x3b8; from a first pair of the three output signals, examines whether the first candidate of the rotation angle &#x3b8; is normal or not and calculates a next candidate of the rotation angle &#x3b8; from another pair of the three output signals if the first candidate of the rotation angle &#x3b8; is not normal, examines whether the next candidate of the rotation angle &#x3b8; is normal or not, repeats the above two steps until a next candidate of the rotation angle &#x3b8; is judged normal, and outputs one of the first and next candidates of the rotation angle &#x3b8; as a formal rotation angle if it is judged normal.

Rotation angle detecting device including multiple magnetic sensor elements

A turbine wheel of a turbocharger has a turbine blade. The turbine blade has a fin shape of which width in the rotation direction of the turbocharger is narrow, and is projected from the base portion of the turbine wheel. An inclined part of the turbine blade is inclined with respect to the rotation direction of the turbocharger. A coil is disposed so that the inclined part passes nearby as the turbine wheel rotates in a posture that an end in the center axis direction is directed toward the turbocharger. A detector detects a change in inductance, which occurs when the inclined part of the coil passes nearby.

Motion detecting apparatus

An eddy current type sensor for detecting a conductor includes a LC circuit and an oscillator. The LC circuit has a coil and a capacitor connected in parallel with the coil. The oscillator supplies an alternating current of a predetermined oscillation frequency to the LC circuit. A signal voltage outputted from the LC circuit has a first voltage when the distance between the coil and the conductor is minimum and a second voltage when the distance between the coil and the conductor is maximum. A voltage difference between the first and second voltages has a first difference at a first temperature and has a second difference at a second temperature. The first and second differences become equal to each other at a first frequency and a second frequency. The oscillation frequency is set close to the first frequency or the second frequency.

Eddy current type sensor for detecting conductor

A rotation angle detecting device that detects a rotation angle of a rotating object includes a permanent magnet that generates magnetic fields in response to rotation of the rotating object, a magnetic sensor, a first yoke and a second yoke. The magnetic sensor includes a pair of close integrated magnetic sensing elements, such as hall elements, disposed at a position around the permanent magnet so that one of the sensing elements senses magnetic field at a phase different from the other. The first yoke and the second yoke forms two magnetic paths crossing each other at the magnetic sensor.

Rotation angle using orthogonal magnetic sensing elements in close proximity to each other

A rotation angle of a shaft is detected based on changes in levels of magnetic flux from a single magnet that is mounted on the shaft and is moved axially in accordance with rotation of the shaft. Respective detected variations in level of X-direction and Y-direction magnetic flux components (each at right angles to the shaft axis) are used to obtain a first quantity that varies monotonically, and a second quantity that varies periodically, in accordance with increased rotation angle. An accurate value of the shaft rotation angle is calculated based on the first and second quantities, in combination.

Rotation angle detection apparatus enabling measurement of degree of rotation of a shaft that exceeds 360&#xb0;

External magnetic members are provided outside the outer periphery of a rotor. When the rotor is positioned around its turning angle of 70 degrees, part of the magnetic fluxes generated by magnets pass through the external magnetic members. This makes it possible to reduce the magnetic fluxes passing through Hall ICs around the turning angle of 70 degrees, thereby linearizing the change characteristic of the magnetic flux density. Thus, it is possible to generally linearize the change characteristic of the density of the magnetic fluxes through the Hall ICs, with the detectable angle range kept wide.

Turning angle detector

A rotation angle detector for detecting change in the magnetic flux has a magnetic sensor being disposed at a position in a space between an outer surface of a shaft and a periphery of the magnetic flux generation means. A supplementary magnet is also used in a space that is enclosed in a circular trace of the magnetic sensor around the shaft for even distribution of the magnetic flux generated by the magnetic flux generation means.

Rotation angle detector

An improved rotation angle detecting device that detects a rotation angle of a first member relative to a second member is proposed. The rotation angle detecting device includes a magnet unit fixed to the first member and a pair of magnetic sensors fixed to the second member to provide output signals whose phase is different from each other at 90 degrees in angle. The magnet unit includes a pair of disk plates that has the same magnetic poles at the same circumferential positions and is disposed at a prescribed axial distance and a shaft that is made of magnetic material to support the disk plates at the center thereof. The magnetic unit provides a uniform magnetic field in a space around the shaft between the pair of disk plates, and a pair of magnetic sensors is disposed in the space.

An angular position sensor is provided which is designed to an angular position of a rotary shaft. The angular position sensor has a magnet affixed to the rotary shaft. The magnet has an N-pole and an S-pole and is so geometrically shaped as to produce magnetic flux which is substantially uniform in amount within a range extending around each of centers of the N-pole and the S-pole. This improves the linearity of a change in sensor output upon rotation of the rotary shaft.

Angular position sensor working to measure high linearity magnetic flux density

A rotation angle detecting device is rotated by a rotating object via a gear mechanism to detect a rotation angle of the rotating object. The rotation angle detecting device includes a housing, a magnet rotor unit having a permanent magnet and a central hole, a magnetic sensor unit including a pair of magnetic sensor elements each of which detects magnetic flux density of a magnetic field generated by the permanent magnet in a direction different from the other, and a signal processor that calculates a rotation angle of the rotating object from the magnetic flux density. The magnetic rotor unit includes a mechanism for changing the magnetic flux density as the number of turns of the magnet rotor unit changes.
