In a connector with a wire cover, one of attachment portions provided in a main body cover is extended beyond a maximum diameter portion of a cover mounting portion in a direction perpendicular to an attachment direction in which the attachment portion is mounted on the cover mounting portion. The one of the attachment portions includes a provisional engagement portion provisionally engaged on the cover mounting portion, and configured to prevent the attachment portion from being detached from the cover mounting portion. The terminal support surface of the anvil is formed into a concavely curved surface in which a depth of the concavely curved surface is not smaller than 0.06 mm and is not larger than 0.17 mm in a cross-section of the anvil perpendicular to an axis direction of the electric wire.

A terminal crimping structure includes a terminal crimped to a copper alloy wire. The terminal has a crimping piece portion crimped to the copper alloy core wire portion. A rate of compression of the copper alloy core wire portion, of a particular diameter, by the crimping piece portion is determined from a relative relation between a parameter varying according to the ratio of (the cross-sectional area of the copper alloy core wire portion at a crimped portion)/(the cross-sectional area of the copper alloy core wire portion before crimping) and a parameter varying according to the ratio of (a cross-sectional area of an annealed copper core wire portion at a crimped portion)/the cross-sectional area of the annealed copper core wire portion before crimping) which is the rate of compression of the annealed copper core wire portion by the crimping piece portion.

Terminal crimping structure and terminal crimping method of crimping terminal to copper alloy wire and wire harness with the terminal crimping structure

A terminal crimping apparatus includes an anvil for supporting a metal terminal including a base plate portion for placing an electric wire thereon and a pair of crimping piece portions extending upwardly respectively from opposite side edges of the base plate portion and a crimper which includes a press-deforming portion having a generally arch-shape formed of two arc-shaped surfaces which are opposed to the anvil. The anvil and the crimper cooperate to press the crimping piece portions for crimping the crimping piece portions to the electric wire placed on the metal terminal. The shape of the crimper satisfies a formula, Index a=c&#xb7;cos &#x3b8;, where c represents a length of the arc-shaped surface of the crimper, and &#x3b8; represents an angle formed by a tangential line to the arc-shaped surface at a central portion of the crimper and a vertical line.

Terminal crimping apparatus

A crimping apparatus includes an anvil for supporting a metal terminal including a base plate portion for mounting an electric wire thereon and a pair of crimping piece portions extending upwardly respectively from opposite side edges of the base plate portion, and a crimper which has a press-fastening portion for press-fastening the crimping piece portions. The anvil and the press-fastening portion of the crimper cooperate to press-fasten the crimping piece portions for crimping the crimping piece portions to the electric wire mounted on the metal terminal. The press-fastening portion is subjected to a mirror finish.

Crimping apparatus

An apparatus for measuring a metal terminal includes a crimping unit which crimps core wire crimping piece portions to a core wire of a sheathed electric wire to form a core wire crimping portion and crimps sheath crimping piece portions to a sheath portion of the sheathed electric wire to form a sheath crimping portion, a gripping member which grips the core wire crimping portion in a direction perpendicular to an extending direction of a base plate portion of the metal terminal, and a measuring unit which measures a dimension of the core wire crimping portion and a dimension of the sheath crimping portion. A height of the sheath crimping portion is measured in a direction intersecting with or parallel to the direction of gripping of the core wire crimping portion in a state that the core wire crimping portion is gripped in a direction perpendicular to an extending direction of the base plate portion.

Method of measuring metal terminal and apparatus for measuring the same

A protective bridge is provided between a pair of side covers on a rear side of an outer housing in an inserting direction of a terminal so that the protective bridge is nearer to an inner housing in a mounting direction than a terminal receiving chamber is when the inner housing is in a provisional locking position with the outer housing. A beam formed on a rear part of the inner housing protrudes downwards in the mounting direction so that the protective bridge overlaps the beam when the inner housing is locked with the outer housing. The protective bridge and the beam have a first retaining protrusion and a second retaining protrusion, respectively, by virtue of which full locking between the inner housing and the outer housing can be made more reliable.

A holder-equipped connector with a downsized connector housing is provided, which includes: a terminal; a connector housing provided with a lance to primarily lock the terminal; and a holder to hold the terminal, wherein a relief portion to secure a bending amount of the lance, being bent when the terminal is attached to the connector housing, is provided on a basewall of the connector housing. The relief portion is a groove provided from a front opening of the connector housing to a vicinity of a root of the lance linearly in a terminal inserting direction.
