Adsorbent, canister, and method for producing adsorbent

An adsorbent to be packed into a canister, at least containing activated carbon and an additive material that has a higher heat capacity than the activated carbon. The adsorbent has first pores derived from the activated carbon that are less than 100 nm and second pores derived from meltable cores that are 1 μm or more. The adsorbent is in the form of a hollow molded body having an outer diameter of more than 6 mm and not more than 50 mm and including a cylindrical wall and honeycomb walls each having a thickness of not less than 0.2 mm and not more than 1 mm. The adsorbent has a volumetric specific heat of 0.08 kcal/L·° C. or more. The ratio of the volume of the second pores to the volume of the first pores is not less than 10% and not more than 200%.

Adsorbent, canister and method for producing adsorbent

Provided is a canister whose performance is enhanced while achieving the advantage of suppressing changes in temperature by using a heat storage material and overcoming the disadvantage of a reduction in the adsorption amount. A canister for treating evaporated fuel includes: a tank port that is in communication with an upper air chamber of a fuel tank of an internal combustion engine; a purge port that is in communication with an air intake path of the internal combustion engine; an atmospheric air port that is open to atmospheric air; and an adsorbent material chamber R that contains an activated carbon that adsorbs evaporated fuel that flows from the tank port to the atmospheric air port. A heat storage material is provided in a tank-side adjacent region T of the adsorbent material chamber R that is provided adjacent to the tank port, the heat storage material being a material obtained by encapsulating, into capsules, a phase change material that absorbs and releases latent heat according to changes in temperature.

Canister

The rate of recovery of a purification target gas from a gas purification apparatus that uses a PSA device is improved, and both a high purity and a high recovery rate are achieved with good power efficiency. The present invention is directed to a gas purification method using the PSA method, in which a carbon molecular sieve having a pore volume, at a pore diameter of 0.38 nm or more, of not exceeding 0.05 cm/g and a pore volume, at a pore diameter of 0.34 nm, of 0.15 cm/g or more, in a pore diameter distribution measured by the MP method is used as an adsorbent, and, in an adsorption step, a miscellaneous gas is adsorbed from a source gas by bringing the source gas into contact with the adsorbent for 10 seconds or more and 6000 seconds or less so as to obtain a concentrated methane.

The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a heat storage material that contains heat storage capsules. The heat storage capsules include a phase change material that absorbs and/or discharges latent heat in response to a change in temperature. The phase change material resides within outer shells of the heat storage capsules. The method involves binding abutting peripheral portions of a plurality of heat storage capsules with a molding binder, so as to form an intermediate granular molded heat storage material. An outer peripheral surface portion of the granular molded heat storage material is coated with a coating binder. The coated granular molded heat storage material is then subjected to a treatment that causes the coating binder of the coating layer to polymerize. The invention also relates to heat storage adsorbent materials, and articles (e.g., canisters) that include such heat storage adsorbent materials.

A flammable gas concentration device comprises an adsorption tower filled by an adsorbent for adsorbing a flammable gas. Raw gas containing air and a flammable gas is fed to the adsorption tower via a feeding path and an exhaust gas in the raw gas which has not been adsorbed to the adsorbent is discharged to an outside of the adsorption tower via a discharge path. Pressure in the adsorption tower is reduced lower than an atmospheric pressure, and the flammable gas adsorbed by the adsorbent is desorbed and collected through a collection path. A flammable gas adsorption step of feeding the raw gas to the adsorption tower and discharging the exhaust gas from the adsorption tower, and a flammable gas desorption step of collecting the desorbed flammable gas are sequentially executed.

Flammable gas concentration device and flammable gas concentration method

The heat storage material can absorb and dissipate a heat in response to change in temperature within the housing. A canister includes a casing having a gas passage which extends from a first passage end formed with a charge port to let in fuel vapor and a purge port to let out the fuel vapor, to a second passage end formed with an atmospheric air port to let in air, and which includes a heat storing and adsorbing chamber in which a granular adsorbing material and a granular heat storing material are held. The granular heat storing material contains capsules each including a phase-change material enclosed in a multilayer outer shell which includes an inner layer of a hydrophobic resin and an outer layer of a hydrophilic resin covering the inner layer.

A vapor storage canister used to treat fuel vapor of an automotive internal combustion engine. The vapor storage canister includes a casing. A granular formed heat accumulative material is disposed in the casing and includes a powdered heat accumulative agent formed of micro-capsules each of which contains a phase changing material which makes adsorption and release of latent heat in accordance with a temperature change. The granular formed heat accumulative material further includes a binder for binding the heat accumulative agents.
