Leakage of a combustion gas is prevented by installing a seal ring in an annular groove provided in the outer peripheral surface of a fuel injection valve. Further, a combustion gas leaked from the seal ring is sealed in by providing a seal washer more on the rear end side of the fuel injection valve than the seal ring. Thus a combustion gas seal for an injection valve is provided, and the combustion gas seal is capable of exhibiting excellent sealing ability for a long term with a simple structure.

Combustion gas seal for fuel injection valve

An injector for directly injecting fuel into a cylinder of an internal combustion engine having a socket. The injector is provided with a nozzle insertable into the socket. An annular gap is defined between the nozzle and the socket when the nozzle is received in the socket. A first seal groove, formed in the nozzle, receives a first gas seal that seals the annular gap. A second seal groove, formed in the nozzle, receives a second gas seal that seals the annular gap. The second seal groove is formed closer to the distal end of the nozzle than the first seal groove. The depth of the second seal groove is greater than that of the first seal groove. This structure prevents the formation of deposits and maintains the sealing capability of the gas seals without lowering installation and maintenance efficiency.

The invention relates to a combustion gas seal for injectors and to a seal structure disposed therewith, for preventing leakage of combustion gas in a state in which an injector is mounted to an engine head. And, the number of parts is reduced, vibration and noise are reduced, and sealing performance is improved. A tapered surface, in which an clearance between the tapered surface and an inner peripheral surface of a mounting hole of the engine head narrows from an engine bore side towards an atmospheric side, is disposed at a groove bottom of an attachment groove of the injector, and an abutment portion that abuts against the tapered surface is disposed at the combustion gas seal for injectors.

Deformation of a delivery pipe in which injectors for injecting fuel into the combustion chambers of corresponding cylinders in an internal combustion engine are accommodated, is suppressed, thereby preventing deterioration of the fuel sealing. At least two mounting portions are provided on respective lengths of the delivery pipes that extend outward from opposite ends of a length of the delivery pipe along which injector-inserting portions are disposed for accommodating the injections. This arrangement of the mounting portions prevents deformation of at least the length of the delivery pipe in which the injector-inserting portions are disposed, thereby preventing deterioration of the fuel sealing between the injectors and the injector-inserting portions of the delivery pipe which could otherwise be caused by high-pressure fuel, thermal contractions at very low temperatures, or the like.

A low-pressure fuel filter is disposed in a fuel-return pipe from the fuel pressure regulator. In a portion of the fuel-return pipe between the fuel pressure regulator and a fuel element of the low-pressure fuel filter, a bypass device which includes, for example, a jet pump or an aperture may be provided so that fuel can flow back to the fuel tank, bypassing the fuel filter when the fuel filter is blocked.
