A first light source and a second light source are arranged so that a protrusion direction of a first terminal from a first supporting body and a protrusion direction of a second terminal from a second supporting body are different when viewed in the longitudinal direction of a light guide. The first light source and the second light source are arranged so as to reduce a protrusion direction of the first supporting body and the second supporting body in a predetermined direction from an area where the first light source and the second light source overlap when viewed in the longitudinal direction of the light guide.

An image sensor unit includes: a light source including a light-emitting surface that emits light; a substantially rod-shaped light guide including a light emitter that linearizes the light from the light source and irradiates a sheet; an image sensor that receives light from the sheet and converts the light into an electric signal; a light condenser focusing the light from the sheet onto the image sensor; a circuit board on which the light source and the image sensor are mounted; and a frame accommodating the light guide, the light condenser and the circuit board. The light condenser and the light emitter of the light guide are disposed substantially parallel to each other. The center line of the light-emitting surface of the light source is disposed nearer the optical axis of the light condenser than the center line of the light emitter.

This invention has as its object to provide an image sensor which can effectively attain higher read resolution, and an image processing apparatus and information processing system using the same. To achieve this object, function members including a light source () for irradiating an object to be read (PP) with light, a sensor () for receiving light reflected by the object to be read (PP), and an imaging element () for forming an image of the reflected light on a light-receiving portion of the sensor () are attached to and supported by a support member () to have a predetermined positional relationship. In order to assure high attachment positional precision and rigidity for the function members, the support member () is formed to have a hollow shape.
