Provided is a laser projection apparatus which forms each one frame by performing two-dimensional scanning with laser light and projects images on a screen () with blanking periods inserted between frames, the laser light having been outputted from a laser light source (). The laser projection apparatus is provided with a chive controlling device () which, in each of the blanking periods, changes the polarization state of the laser light having been outputted from the laser light source. This configuration enables speckle reduction by having the polarization state changed from one frame to another, and also enables favorable image projection since there is no change in luminance within each one of the frames. Thus, it is made possible to obtain image quality more favorable than that obtained conventionally.

An object is to provide a image projection device which has a small size but can project an image having a high image quality. To achieve the object, in an image projection device, a reflection part which reflects a light flux from a light source is, while being rotated around a first axis by non-resonance driving, rotated by resonance driving around a second axis which is substantially perpendicular to the first axis, and thereby the light flux is deflected in a two-dimensional direction. A laser projector comprises an oscillation device for displacing at least one of a plurality of optical elements, which constitute the projection optical system of the laser projector, periodically along the direction of the optical axis of laser light. The laser projector reduces the speckle of a projection image on an arbitrary screen to such an extent as it cannot be recognized with human eyes, without having a significant effect on the image resolution, by periodically displacing the position of the smallest spot of laser light projected from the projection optical system. An object of the present invention is to provide an image projector capable of projecting a high-quality image while realizing small size. In the image projector, a light flux is deflected two-dimensionally by turning a reflector for reflecting a light flux emitted from a light source around a second axis almost orthogonal to a first axis as a center by resonant drive while turning the reflector around the first axis as a center by non-resonant drive. Shape of one or more optical surfaces of a projection optical system for projecting an image onto a projection plane by guiding light onto the projection plane includes a shape for performing a correction for maintaining scanning speed of the light flux along one scan direction on the projection plane almost constant and a shape for performing a correction for suppressing a distortion in an image along the other scan direction almost orthogonal to the one scan direction on the projection plane. By controlling turn of the reflector, at least one of a correction for maintaining scanning speed of the light flux along the other scan direction on the projection plane almost constant and a correction for suppressing a distortion in an image along the one scan direction on the projection plane is performed.

A two-dimensional image is displayed on a screen (SC) by scanning the screen (SC) two-dimensionally with light beams from a laser light source () that are deflected to orthogonally-intersecting first and second scanning directions by means of a mirror () in a deflection apparatus (). The deflection apparatus () is arranged to incline obliquely in the second scanning direction (e.g. vertical direction) lower in a scanning speed than the first scanning direction (e.g. horizontal direction), and performs an oblique projection onto the screen (SC). Assuming a direction in which the incidence angle of a light beam deflected by the deflection apparatus () and entering the screen (SC) increases in the second scanning direction is positive side, the light beam from the laser light source () impinges on the deflection apparatus () from the negative side in the second scanning direction, and the normal to the mirror () in the deflection apparatus () in a state where the center of the screen is displayed inclines to the negative side in the second scanning direction with respect to the normal to the screen (SC).

A laser projection device includes: an incidence optical system condensing laser light, a scanning device deflect the laser light in a first scanning direction and a second scanning direction with a mirror, and a projection optical system guiding the deflected light to a surface to be scanned. The scanning device performs the deflection in the first scanning direction by resonant driving and performs the deflection in the second scanning direction by non-resonant driving. The incidence optical system has different optical powers in the first scanning direction and the second scanning direction, and makes light incident on the scanning device in a convergent state in the first scanning direction and in a substantially parallel light state in the second scanning direction. The projection optical system has a negative optical power in the first scanning direction.

A concave diffraction grating device, a reflective dispersion device, and a spectral device of the invention include a diffraction grating plane having an aspherical configuration, wherein the diffraction grating plane is symmetrical in a predetermined direction, and asymmetrical in a direction orthogonal to the predetermined direction in such a manner that the curvature of one end portion of the diffraction grating plane in the direction orthogonal to the predetermined direction is gradually decreased, and the curvature of the other end portion thereof is gradually increased.
