A power transmission device includes a case that houses a power transmission mechanism, a control valve arranged upright inside the case, and first and second pumps configured to supply oil to the control valve. The case has a first support wall that supports an axis of rotation of the power transmission mechanism, a second support wall that supports the control valve and is arranged aligned with the axis of rotation, a first chamber located on one side of the first support wall, a second chamber adjacent to the first chamber across the second support wall, and a third support wall extending from the second support wall along the axis of rotation to the other side of the first support wall. The first pump is mounted on the first support wall inside the first chamber. The second pump is mounted on the third support wall inside the second chamber.

Power transmission device

A hydraulic circuit includes a first oil path, a second oil path, a hydraulic control circuit, a third oil path, a check valve, and a relief valve. The first oil path links to a discharge port of a first oil pump. The second oil path links to a discharge port of a second oil pump. In the hydraulic control circuit, a first regulator valve is disposed downstream of a confluence point of the first oil path and the second oil path. The third oil path connects a suction port of the first oil pump and a strainer. The check valve is provided in the third oil path and restricts a movement of oil toward the strainer side. The relief valve is provided in the third oil path and discharges oil in the third oil path to an outside when a pressure in the third oil path exceeds a reference pressure.

Hydraulic circuit

A power transmission device for a vehicle includes a housing that accommodates a power transmission mechanism, a control valve configured to control an oil pressure supplied to the power transmission mechanism, a first pump and a second pump configured to supply oil to the control valve. The housing includes a first chamber that accommodates the power transmission mechanism and the first pump, and a second chamber that is arranged adjacent to the first chamber in a horizontal line direction. In the first chamber, the first pump is arranged such that an axis of rotation of the first pump extends along a direction of an axis of rotation of the power transmission mechanism. In the second chamber, the control valve is arranged upright. In the second chamber, the second pump is arranged upright with an axis of rotation of the second pump extending along a vertical direction.

A lubricating oil composition for a continuously variable transmission contains at a specific content: (A) a mineral oil or PAO having a sulfur content of 0.03 mass % or less and a kinematic viscosity at 100 degrees C. from 1.5 mm/s to 3 mm/s; (B) a mineral oil or PAO having a sulfur content of 0.03 mass % or less and a kinematic viscosity at 100 degrees C. from 5.5 mm/s to 8 mm/s; (C) PAO having a kinematic viscosity at 100 degrees C. from 30 mm/s to 400 mm/s; and (D) a polymethacrylate having a mass average molecular weight of 10000 to 40000, in which the total content of the components (C) and (D) is 19 mass % or more and the lubricating oil composition has a kinematic viscosity at 100 degrees C. from 5.5 mm/s to 6.5 mm/s and a kinematic viscosity at &#x2212;20 degrees C. of 680 mm/s or less.

Method for lubricating a continuously variable transmission, and a continuously variable transmission

An automatic transmission has a transmission casing accommodating a transmission mechanism and a filter case attached to the transmission casing and having an oil filter. The transmission casing has a concave portion with which at least an oil inlet or an oil outlet communicates and an overhanging portion positioned close to the concave portion and extending along a surface of the transmission casing with a clearance provided between the surface and the overhanging portion. The filter case has a case body inserted into the concave portion, a seal member sealing a boundary between an outer circumferential surface of the case body and an inside surface of the concave portion, a first brim portion protruding from the outer circumferential surface and fixed to the surface of the transmission casing, and a second brim portion protruding from the outer circumferential surface and inserted into the clearance.
