A liquid ejection head includes a plurality of ejection ports, a plurality of pressure chambers each communicating with each of the ejection ports, a piezoelectric actuator constituting part of walls of the pressure chambers, and a common liquid chamber containing liquid to be supplied to the pressure chambers. The pressure chambers and the common liquid chamber are opposed with an opposing wall interposed therebetween. The opposing wall faces the wall of the pressure chambers constituted by the piezoelectric actuator. A reinforcing portion that supports the opposing wall is provided in the common liquid chamber.

Liquid ejection head

An element substrate in which a plurality of members are layered. Plates and a substrate serving as the plurality of members being layered and adhered to each other. The element substrate including a plurality of ejection ports that eject a liquid, and a plurality of supply ports that each communicate with a different ejection port. At least one of the members includes a groove that is, when viewing, from above, a surface in which the ejection ports are formed, formed between two ejection ports, each of which communicates to a different supply port.

Element substrate, liquid ejection head, and liquid ejection apparatus

There is provided a liquid ejecting device including a damper device which can sufficiently absorb dynamic pressure of a liquid while miniaturization of a device body is achieved and which can be easily manufactured. For that purpose, a part of an ink storage unit in the damper device is formed by a flexible member having a convex shape.

An element substrate includes a discharge port that discharges a liquid, an energy-generating element that generates energy that discharges the liquid from the discharge port, an acting chamber that makes the energy of the energy-generating element act on the liquid, and a heating element including at least two heat generating surfaces that are exposed to the liquid inside the acting chamber, the heating element disposed inside the acting chamber. The element substrate further includes a substrate in which a supply port that supplies liquid to the acting chambers is formed. The heating element may be disposed such that the heat generating surfaces are spaced apart from the substrate.

Liquid discharge head and liquid discharge apparatus

A capping unit is detachably mountable to an ink jet recording head. The ink jet recording head has an ejection outlet surface provided with ejection outlets for ejecting ink. The capping unit includes: a liquid-absorbing member provided with a projection contactable to a periphery of an area, in which the ejection outlets are formed, on the ejection outlet surface so as to form a gap between the area and the liquid-absorbing chamber; and a capping member including an engaging portion and an elastic portion for contacting a rear surface opposite from a surface on which the projection of said liquid-absorbing member is formed to press said liquid-absorbing member against the ejection outlet surface.

A liquid discharge head includes a liquid discharge substrate including a discharge port; a flow path for supplying liquid to the liquid discharge substrate; an absorption member capable of absorbing a laser beam, wherein a first flow path portion constituting a portion of a wall of the flow path is formed on a surface thereof; and a transparent member transparent to a laser beam, wherein a second flow path portion constituting another portion of the wall of the flow path is formed on a surface thereof; wherein the flow path is formed by welding the surfaces of the absorption and transparent members with each other at a periphery of the first flow path portion using a laser beam, and wherein the second flow path portion is constituted by a depression including an inclined surface capable of reflecting a laser beam directed toward the first flow path portion.

Liquid discharge head and method of manufacturing the same

A flexible wiring substrate that is used in a liquid ejection head having an element substrate provided with energy generating elements for generating energy for ejecting liquid includes: a bending portion; a base member including resin; electrical wiring lines formed on the base member and electrically connected to the element substrate, the electrical wiring lines extending over a ridge of the bending portion; and a metal layer that is arranged on an area of the base member in which no electrical wiring lines are provided and that is not electrically connected to the element substrate, the metal layer extending over the ridge.

Liquid ejection head and flexible wiring substrate used in liquid ejection head

A liquid ejection apparatus has an ejection orifice ejecting a liquid, a liquid storage section storing the liquid, a conductive communication path forming member forming a communication path to supply the liquid from the liquid storage section to the ejection orifice, and an electrode provided inside the liquid storage section and used to detect a remaining amount of the liquid. The communication path is electrically connected to the electrode, and the electrical resistance value between the electrode and the communication path contacting the liquid when the liquid is present in the liquid storage section is smaller than the electrical resistance value between the electrode and the communication path when the liquid is not present in the liquid storage section. A recording apparatus incorporating the above features can detect the presence or absence of ink in the recording head with high precision without increasing the size of the recording head.

Recording apparatus

A liquid container detachably mountable to a mounting portion of an ink jet recording apparatus, the liquid container including a casing defining a liquid containing chamber, an electrical contact, a light emitter, a display portion for directing emitted light to an outside of the liquid container, and an information storing portion for storing information relating to the liquid container. First and second engaging portions are engageable with respective first and second locking portions of the mounting portion, and are disposed at opposite first and second sides of the casing. A latch lever displaceably supports the second engaging portion away from the second side. A supply port is provided on a third side of the casing between the first and second sides, the electrical contact is disposed at a corner between the second and third sides, and the display portion is disposed adjacent an upper portion of the second side.

Liquid container and manufacturing method therefor

An assembly method of a liquid discharge head is provided. The liquid discharge head includes an element substrate, an electrode portion, a flexible wiring member which has the element substrate at one end and the electrode portion at another end, and includes a plurality of bent portions, wherein, each edge line of at least two bent portions are not parallel and a housing. The assembly method includes a step for providing the flexible wiring member and the housing in which the element substrate is fixed on a first surface of the housing, a step for fixing the flexible wiring member on a second surface of the housing while holding the electrode portion at a position on a third surface of the housing where the electrode portion to be fixed, and a step for fixing the electrode portion to the position.

Liquid discharge head and assembly method of liquid discharge head

An ink tank is attachable to the attachment section by positioning first engagement sections at first fitting sections on the attachment section and then locking a second engagement section to a second fitting section of the attachment section by rotating the tank. The multiple supply ports are arranged on a bottom face of the tank such that the supply ports are on both sides of a center line in a width direction of the tank, and that distances between each of abutting centers configured to abut ink receiving parts of the attachment section, and the first engagement section side in a direction along a center line are mutually different. It is possible to avoid reception of a reactive force to the ink receiving parts at one time when rotating and attaching the tank, and to achieve stable attachment while suppressing excessive inclination of the tank at the time of attachment.

Ink tank and ink supply system

An ink tank provided with a supply port for supplying the ink contained therein and an electric contact for information transmission is smoothly and securely attached to an attachment section of a printing apparatus while achieving secure connection of an electric contact section at the same time. The ink tank is configured to be attachable to the attachment section by positioning a first engagement section at a first fitting section on the attachment section, and then by rotating the ink tank around the positioned first engagement section to lock a second engagement section to a second fitting section on the attachment section. The supply port and a positioning section for the contact are disposed on the bottom face of the ink tank so as to be on the respective two sides of the center line in the width direction of the ink tank therebetween.

Ink tank

A recording apparatus includes a carriage, ink containers mounted in the carriage and including respective light emitters, a driving unit for moving the ink tanks, a light receiver receiving light from the light emitters, a light control unit controlling lighting the light emitter of a predetermined ink container, and a determining unit for determining whether the predetermined ink container is mounted at a correct position, based on the light emitted from the light emitter of the predetermined ink container at positions. When the driving unit does not move the carriage to a position where at least one of the ink containers is facing the light receiver, the determining unit determines whether the at least one of the ink containers is mounted at the correct position, based on the light received from the light emitters at a position adjacent to the facing position.
