The pipe articles with excellent stress crack resistance can be achieved by providing ethylene copolymer composition comprises ethylene and a C6-C10 &#x3b1;-olefin comonomer; the ethylene copolymer having a total density of 0.945-0.980 g/cmand a MFRof 0.10-0.50 g/10 min; and the ethylene copolymer having a comonomer content of 1-5% wt. The ethylene copolymer has M/Min the range of not less than 14.0; gpcBR in the range of from 0.20 to 0.80; and strain hardening modulus &#x3c;Gp&#x3e; in the range of not less than 53.4.

The present invention provides an ethylene polymer that has excellent fluidity and moldability as well as gives a molded product having excellent mechanical strength. An ethylene-based polymer which is a copolymer obtained from ethylene and a C3 to C10&#x3b1;-olefin and satisfies the following requirements (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv) simultaneously provides a blow-molded product and an extrusion-molded product excellent in moldability, mechanical strength and outward appearance. The ethylene-based polymer of the invention is preferably produced by copolymerizing ethylene with a C3 to C10 &#x3b1;-olefin, in the presence of a solid catalyst carrying, on (C) a solid carrier, a mixed transition metal compound consisting of (A1) a group 4 transition metal compound containing a specific salicyl aldimine ligand and (A2) a group 4 transition metal compound containing a specific cyclopentadienyl ligand and (B) at least one compound selected from (b-1) an organometallic compound, (b-2) an organoaluminum oxy compound, and (b-3) a compound reacting with the transition metal compound to form an ion pair.

A method for manufacturing a hollow molded article by extruding a parison of an ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer whose density, melt flow rate, melt tension, decane soluble matter content and melting point are controlled within particular ranges, while controlling the resin pressure in the extruder within a certain range, and then blow-molding such parison. This method makes it possible to improve the drawdown characteristic of the parison and to provide a container showing high mechanical strength and only a small amount of extraction into the contents of the article.
