The valve opening/closing timing control device includes: a driving rotating body; a driven rotating body; a fixed shaft portion; a fluid pressure chamber; a partitioning portion; and a phase control unit for controlling a rotation phase by supplying/discharging pressurized fluid to/from an advancing chamber or a retarding chamber via an inside of the fixed shaft portion. The driven rotating body has: an inner circumferential member with a cylindrical portion, and a coupling plate portion of the camshaft, the cylindrical portion and the coupling plate portion being integrated with each other; and an outer circumferential member provided with the partitioning portion. The outer circumferential member includes the inner circumferential member in a unified manner so as to have the same rotational axis. The inner circumferential member is formed with an iron-based material. The outer circumferential member is formed with a material that is lighter in weight than the iron-based material.

A valve opening and closing timing control apparatus includes a torsion coil spring provided at an accommodation chamber which is defined by a front member provided at a drive-side rotational member and a tubular void provided at a driven-side rotational member, the torsion coil spring engaging with the front member and the driven-side rotational member to bias the driven-side rotational member in an advanced or a retarded angle direction relative to the driven-side rotational member and an oil reservoir portion defined by an outer surface of the torsion coil spring facing the driven-side rotational member and at least one recess portion provided at the driven-side rotational member, the recess portion being provided in a radially outer direction from a position at a radially outer side than an inner diameter of the torsion coil spring and at a radially inner side than an outer diameter of the torsion coil spring.

Valve opening and closing timing control apparatus

The valve opening/closing timing control device includes: an advancing chamber and a retarding chamber that are formed by partitioning a fluid pressure chamber that is formed between a driving rotating body and a driven rotating body that is located on an inner circumference side of the driving rotating body so as to be relatively rotatable, with a partitioning portion that is provided on an outer circumference side of the driven rotating body; an advancing channel that is in communication with the advancing chamber; and a retarding channel that is in communication with the retarding chamber. The driven rotating body has a first member and a second member, and the advancing channel and the retarding channel are formed to penetrate through a boundary between the first member and the second member after the first member and the second member have been installed.

The valve opening/closing timing control device includes: the driving rotating body; the driven rotating body; an advancing chamber and a retarding chamber formed by partitioning a fluid pressure chamber between the driving and driven rotating bodies; and a phase control unit supplying pressurized fluid to the advancing or retarding chamber via an advancing channel or a retarding channel penetrating through the driven rotating body. In the driven rotating body, an outer circumferential member and an inner circumferential member are formed integrally/coaxially with each other. The advancing and retarding channel form a predetermined angle. Between every pair of an advancing channel and a retarding channel, a groove portion is formed in one of an inner circumferential surface of the outer circumferential member and an outer circumferential surface of the inner circumferential member, and an elongated protruding portion is formed on the other, at a position that corresponds to the groove portion.

A valve timing controller includes a driving-side rotary member, a driven-side rotary member, an advancing chamber and a retarding chamber formed as a fluid pressure chamber is partitioned by a partitioning portion provided on an outer circumferential side of the driven-side rotary member, and a phase controlling section. The driven-side rotary member includes an advancing passage communicated to the advancing chamber and a retarding passage communicated to the retarding chamber. The driving-side rotary member is formed of an aluminum-based material. The driven-side rotary member integrally includes an outer circumferential member having the partitioning portion and formed of an aluminum-based material, and an inner circumferential member constituting an inner circumferential side of the outer circumferential member and formed of an iron-based material.

A valve opening-closing timing control device includes a solenoid valve having a solenoid mechanism provided with a spool having an oil path groove formed in an outer face thereof, and a sleeve for housing the spool to reciprocate and slide. A wall surface of the sleeve has a first port communicating with a first hydraulic oil supply section, a second port communicating with a second hydraulic oil supply section, and a third port communicating with the side of a hydraulic oil supply source. The spool is driven and set to a first position for supplying hydraulic oil from the hydraulic oil supply source to the first port, a second position for supplying the hydraulic oil from the hydraulic oil supply source to the second port, and a third position outside an area between the first and second positions to prevent supply of hydraulic oil from the first and second ports.

A valve timing adjusting system includes a displacement mechanism unit that displaces a camshaft rotational phase relative to a crankshaft, a locking mechanism unit that locks the rotational phase, and a control unit that controls operations of a hydraulic control valve. The control unit includes a property obtainment unit that obtains property information regarding hydraulic properties, and a lock release process completes locking release by supplying oil pressure to the locking mechanism unit for moving the rotational phase from an intermediate locked phase toward one of a retard/advance position, and then supplying oil pressure to the locking mechanism unit for moving the rotational phase toward the other of the retard/advance position; the rotational phase stands by at a predetermined position of the one of the retard/advance position past the intermediate locked phase during the lock release process, until a standby time has elapsed.

A valve timing control device is switchable between a first state in which a fluid is supplied to a communication flow path to lift a restriction by a restriction member and release a lock by a lock member, a second state in which the fluid is supplied to a retarded angle chamber to release the lock by the lock member and set the restriction by the restriction member, and a third state in which the restriction member is restricted and the lock member is locked without supplying the fluid to the communication flow path and supplying the fluid to the retarded angle chamber, and is configured such that the minimum cross-sectional area of an advanced passage for supplying the fluid to an advanced chamber is greater than the minimum cross-sectional area of a retarded passage for supplying the fluid to the retarded angle chamber.

A valve timing control apparatus includes a locking mechanism having a locking member disposed in an accommodating portion formed in one of a drive-side rotor and a driven-side rotor and projectable into and retractable from the other rotor than the one rotor having the accommodating portion and a locking groove defined in the other rotor for receiving and retaining the locking member projecting therein, the locking mechanism for restraining a relative rotational phase when the locking member is retained within the locking groove.
