A process for producing a metal evaporated article, which includes a metallization step of evaporating a metal and depositing the evaporated metal onto a continuously running substrate and an auxiliary material deposition step of evaporating an auxiliary material contained in an evaporator and depositing the evaporated auxiliary material onto the continuously running substrate, before or after the metallization step, comprising the steps of detecting the pressure of the atmosphere where the auxiliary material evaporated from the evaporator exists, and controlling the evaporation condition of the auxiliary material in the evaporator based on the information concerning the detected pressure.

A metallized film suited for constituting a capacitor is disclosed. The metallized film according to the present invention includes a polymer base film and a vapor-deposited layer consisting essentially of Al and Zn, which is formed on the polymer base film. Metallized films and capacitors containing the same

A film capacitor in which the unmetallized margin is provided with a semiconductive layer. The layer provides a parallel resistive path within the capacitor, itself, obviating the need for an external resistor. It also grades the electric field across the margin, i.e., makes the field more uniform, thus allowing the margin to be made narrower without electrical breakdown, permitting a reduction in the physical size of the capacitor. A refractory, semiconductive layer is provided between the metal layer and the dielectric film. The refractory layer accelerates the self-clearing process, by insulating the underlying dielectric film from the heat generated by the vaporizing metal, thus hastening vaporization and reducing the tendency of the dielectric film to carbonize. As a result, faults are cleared with substantially less energy consumption. Preferably, the refractory layer is also semiconductive, to reduce field emission effects, and thereby decrease the frequency of faults in the dielectric film.

The present invention provides with a shaped article of a fluorocarbon polymer having a fluorine/carbon ratio of 1.9 to 2.0, in which at least a part of surface has a fluorine/carbon ratio of 0.8 to 1.8. The shaped article has an improved adhesive properties, especially heat-sealing adhesive property and can be manufactured by a low-temperature plasma treatment of the surface of the fluorocarbon polymer shaped article. As compared with conventional surface-reformed ones, the fluorocarbon polymer shaped article of this invention has an improved adhesive property, especially for heat-sealing, which is not deteriorated during their storage either at a high temperature, at a high humidity or on exposure to ultraviolet ray.

Disclosed is a biaxially stretched polyester film having a modified surface with an excellent bondability, in which both the surface smoothness and the slip characteristic, which are contradictory to each other, are satisfactory. This biaxially stretched polyester film has a multiplicity of ultra-fine protrusions which are an integral part of the film and dyeable with osmic acid. The film is prepared by subjecting an undrawn or drawn polyester sheet to a plasma treatment and then drawing the treated sheet at least once. This invention relates to a polyvinyl chloride sheet comprising crosslinked thin layer(s) and uncrosslinked layer(s), at least one surface of the sheet being a crosslinked layer. The thickness of the said crosslinked layer ranges between about 0.05 to about 2 microns, and the degree of the chlorination of the said layer is not greater than about 45% of that of the uncrosslinked layer, and the degree of heat shrinkage is not greater than about 1%.
