A simulator comprising computer-aided design programs for simulating a shift control algorithm stored in an ECU of an automatic transmission having hydraulic clutches. In the simulator, a simplified hydraulic model describes the entire system so as to design a third model based on which simulation is conducted. With this, by using such a simplified model, it becomes possible to decrease simulation time to 4 sec., enabling to simulation in a time close to an actual shift of approximately 1.5 sec. Moreover, the durability of transmission is tested by repeating the simulation. When the occurrence of undesirable shift phenomenon is forecast in the simulation, the shift control algorithm is corrected until the phenomenon disappears in the next simulation. With this, the manufacturing of a test transmission and a preliminary test are no longer needed, thereby further improving the efficiency and costs of transmission development.

Simulator for automatic vehicle transmission controllers

A simulator having a computer-aided design (CAD) programs for verifying algorithms of a shift controller of an automatic transmission. The simulator includes a simulator main unit (a computer) which stores the programs and inputs the algorithm, and pseudo-signal generator which generates pseudo signals including operation signals for the hydraulic actuators. The programs includes first calculating means for calculating outputs of first to third models describing behavior of the engine, the transmission and the vehicle body at a first calculation cycle based on the algorithm and the pseudo signals. A second calculating means inputs the calculated outputs of the first and second models and calculates an output of a fourth model describing non-linear behavior in the second model at a second calculation cycle, shorter than the first calculation cycle, and verifies the algorithm based on the outputs of the first models. With this, it can simulate in real time the behaviors of the automatic vehicle transmission including the non-linear behavior of hydraulic actuators, thereby enabling verification or evaluation of the control algorithm in a real-world environment.

In a hybrid vehicle control system equipped with an internal combustion engine ( ), an electric motor ( ) connected to the engine through a hydraulic clutch ( ) and an automatic transmission ( ) connected to the motor to be inputted with an output torque outputted from the engine and the motor to transmit the same to driven wheels ( ) of the vehicle, the output torque of the motor (TM) and supply of hydraulic pressure to the clutch (PCL) is increased until the determined speed difference (dN) is less than a threshold value (dN ) and then the output torque of the engine is reduced such that the engine speed (NE) is synchronized with the motor speed (NM) when the speed difference (dN) becomes less than the predetermined value (dN ), while increasing the supply of hydraulic pressure to a line pressure equivalent value. With this, it can effectively reduces shock at clutch engagement during switchover from electric motor-powered driving to internal combustion engine-powered driving.

Control system for hybrid vehicle

A system for controlling an automatic transmission of a vehicle which determines a downgrade or upgrade parameter based on the vehicle acceleration and selects one from among a plurality of shift programs based on the determined grade parameter to determine a gear ratio based on the selected shift program. The system includes a navigation system which determines the instantaneous vehicle position and outputs road information including upgrade/downgrade condition of road including the determined instantaneous vehicle position. In the system, the grade parameter is corrected based on the navigation information and the grade parameter such that the one from among a plurality of shift programs is selected based on the corrected grade parameter, thereby enhancing drivability during downgrade running, without being affected even if the navigation information is temporarily invalid.

Control system for automatic vehicle transmissions

An automatic gear change controller, having a constant speed travel mode, which can transmit torque to wheels of a vehicle according to changes in the travel load of the vehicle even though a gear shift mode is changed to the manual gear shift mode. When the gear shift mode is set in the manual gear shift mode and the travel mode is set in a constant speed travel mode, a constant speed travel controller generates a downshift command signal. In this case, when the accelerator pedal is depressed beyond a predetermined amount, the gear shift stage of the automatic transmission is downshifted.

Apparatus for controlling an automatic transmission

A system for controlling an automatic transmission of a vehicle which determines a downgrade or upgrade parameter based on the vehicle acceleration and selects one from among a plurality of shift maps (programs) based on the determined grade parameter to determine a gear ratio based on the selected shift program. The system includes a navigation system which stores the road information including the kinds of road. The system determines whether the vehicle runs on a relative road such an alley or a traffic jammed expressway based on the vehicle speed change, the vehicle-stopping-time and the navigation information and if it does, changes the upshift line of the level-road map in the direction in which the vehicle speed increases such that upshift is not likely to occur, or in the direction in which the vehicle speed decreases such that the upshift is more likely to occur, thereby enhancing driveability.
