To provide a planar light source device that can provide large-area, uniform, and high-quality planar illumination light. A planar light source device includes a main body casethat surrounds the periphery of a gap between a pair of optical reflection plates disposed to face each other with side plates, and a plurality of point light sourcesarranged at predetermined intervals on at least one side plate of the main body case. The planar light source device allows light from the point light sourcesto be transmitted through at least one of the pair of optical reflection platesand emitted to the outside. At least oneof the pair of optical reflection platesincludes a light blocking region Sthat blocks light from the point light sources on the point light sourcesside, and a light transmission region Sthat does not allow the light from the point light sourcesto be directly transmitted but allows reflection light reflected between the optical reflection plates to be transmitted, and is aligned so that transmissivity increases as the distance from the light blocking region Sincreases, and luminance is substantially uniform on the surface of the optical reflection plate.

Planar light source device and illumination apparatus

A light source device is equipped with a highly directional point light source, a light source installation part having a prescribed area where the point light source is installed, and a lateral reflection part that is vertically arranged to a prescribed height from the periphery of the light source installation part. The lateral reflection part is formed with a light-transmitting reflector plate that has a reflection/transmission pattern and is provided with multiple reflection/transmission parts for reflecting and at least partially transmitting light. In the reflection/transmission pattern, multiple virtual radial lines are drawn from the light source to the light-transmitting reflector plate surface at prescribed angles, and for reflection/transmission parts (Di,j) present on the radial lines that are at the same distance from the point light source, the reflectivity and transmissivity are denoted as Re1 and Tr1 when the reflection/transmission part is on a radial line at a narrow viewing angle to the point light source, and when the reflection/transmission part is on a radial line at a wide viewing angle to the point light source, the reflectivity and transmissivity are denoted as Re2 and Tr2. A light source device is provided with an LED having strong directivity, a reflective hood which has an interior reflecting surface for reflecting the illumination light from the light source, and a pair of first and second polarizing reflective plates for polarizing the illumination light from the LED in a specific direction. The first and second polarizing reflective plates have a specific length and width, and a back surface formed from a high reflectance plate. The light source is secured to the reflective hood. A specific interval is provided between the first and second polarizing reflective plates and the reflecting surface of the reflective hood, and a specific interval is provided between the two plates with the optical axis passing through the 0&#xb0; direction angle of the light source in between.

A surface illuminating light source device is provided with a light source for radiating light; a light guide body propagating light from the light source and having a radiation surface at a prescribed position in the radiation direction; a casing closing the light guide body except the radiation surface and having the light source arranged substantially at the center; an inner reflection section arranged between the casing and the light guide body and having a reflection surface which reflects light propagating inside the light guide body; and a radiation side reflection section having an outer reflection section which is arranged on the radiation surface and has a reflection surface that reflects light propagating inside the light guide body at a prescribed rate and an opening section which is formed on the outer reflection section and through which reflection light reflected at least once on one of the reflection surfaces among the light from the light source passes.

A SIT (Static Induction Transistor) image sensor with a high-sensitivity and a high-fidelity is disclosed. The image sensor comprises a SIT image cell array and a scanning circuit which scans in turn a plurality of SIT image cells in such a manner that respective scanning time in all the cells are equal throughout a sequential scanning operation for the SIT image sensor. A reading line and a refreshing line may be combined into a single line. A differential amplifier is provided for correcting a picture element information to remove a noise component therefrom.

A distance measuring apparatus projects a light beam toward an object whose distance is to be determined. Reflected light from the object is divided into a pair of light components by a beam splitter. The intensity of one of the light components is detected by first light intensity detector. The other light component is subject to an alteration in intensity in accordance with an angle formed between the illuminating light and the reflected light, and the intensity of the said other light component is detected by second light intensity detector. The outputs from both detector is fed to a circuit, which derives information indicative of a distance to the object being determined.

In a method and apparatus for detecting focus condition of an imaging optical system, the focus condition is detected in accordance with a combination of two different detection methods such as an image sharpness detection and an image lateral shift detection by using first and second light receiving element arrays for the image sharpness detection and a third light receiving element array for the image lateral shift detection. For making the construction of the apparatus compact and simple, these light receiving element arrays are formed on the same semiconductor substrate. Further a light flux dividing prism and a lenticular lens array are formed integrally with each other. According to the focus detection method of the present invention, it is possible to detect the focus condition for various kinds of subjects accurately over a wide range by using both the image sharpness detection and image lateral shift detection even in a range near an in-focus position.

A focus condition of an objective lens is detected on the basis of a lateral shift of two images formed by first and second light fluxes which are transmitted through right- and left-hand halves of the lens, respectively. In order to separate the first and second light fluxes, there is arranged an array of triangle prisms each having first and second surfaces which are inclined symmetrically with respect to the optical axis of lens by a critical angle so that one of the light fluxes is transmitted through the one of the surfaces, but is totally reflected by the other surface of each prism. The first and second light fluxes transmitted through the prisms are received by an array of light receiving elements in such a manner that the first and second light fluxes are selectively received by odd and even numbered light receiving elements, respectively.

Method and apparatus for detecting focus condition of objective lens

Switch apparatus having a digital display is provided in accordance with the teachings of the present invention. The switch apparatus according to the present invention includes an encoder having a code pattern thereon which is scanned by a reader to produce multi-bit binary information to be displayed. A storage circuit having switch positional information stored therein is also provided and a collator is employed to compare the multi-bit binary information read by the reader with the positional information stored in the storage circuit. When a comparison is obtained a braking force is applied to inhibit scanning so that a switch position corresponding to stored positional information is obtained.

Digital input apparatus

A graphic display system which is particularly applicable to a raster scanning type graphic display device is disclosed. The system extracts a given partial pattern from an original pattern by comparing a counted value of an input coordinate X axis counter for counting the number of picture elements of the original pattern with given preset values so as to select a picture element having an X coordinate value within a given range of input coordinates and by comparing a counted value of an input coordinate Y axis counter for counting the number of scanning lines of the original pattern with given preset values so as to select a picture element having a Y coordinate value within the given range of the input coordinates. The given values are preset to a display coordinate X axis counter and a display coordinate Y axis counter, respectively, so as to bring a leading picture element of the partial pattern extracted from the original pattern into correspondence with the given coordinates of the display coordinates. The contents of the display coordinate X axis counter are subjected to increment so as to determine a coordinate position of a picture element to be recorded next to a recorded picture element in correspondence with recording and display of each picture element and resetting the display coordinate X axis counter and subjecting contents of the display Y axis counter to increment when the contents of the display coordinate X axis counter exceed the given preset values. The recording and display is stopped when the contents of both display coordinate X axis counter and the display coordinate Y axis counter reach respective given preset values so as to control the recording of the partial pattern.

An automatic focusing device for cameras, microscopes and the like for automatically adjusting the focal point of a lens with the aid of an operational circuit. The operational circuit derives brightness information of adjacent picture elements, calculates differences in picture element brightness from this brightness information, and aids in the smoothness of brightness change associated with this difference for a number of picture elements. An accumulated value of this smoothness of brightness change is obtained for all picture elements, and the optical system is moved to make the accumulated value a maximum and to adjust the focal point accordingly.

A code detection circuit for removing an influence due to an error code transmitted in a band compression facsimile, etc. The circuit comprises an input register for temporarily memorizing input data, an output register coupled to the output of the input register, a comparison circuit coupled to the input and output of the input register and comparing the input data of the input register with the output thereof, and a reader for reading the output of the input register in the output register by means of the output of the comparison circuit when the input data becomes coincident with the output of the input register.

Code detection circuit

A control apparatus for use in a frequency band compression facsimile receiver comprising means for generating a halt signal for a given duration at the time of engagement and/or disengagement of a sheet feed clutch and at the time of operation of a roll sheet cutter and means for interrupting reception of a record signal and reception of a request for transporting a record sheet in response to said halt signal. According to this invention, the timings of recording an image on a record sheet, transportation of the record sheet, feeding of a roll sheet and cutting of the roll sheet can be controlled at the time of engagement and/or disengagement of the sheet feed clutch or at the time of the cutter and such controls can be easily adjusted. As a result, an improved recorded image is obtained and the length of a sheet to be cut from a roll sheet is stabilized, without causing the jamming of record sheets.

A coding system for effecting band compression transmission of a binary signal such as a facsimile picture signal is disclosed. The coding system is characterized by converting each block of that binary coded m-ary digit which is associated with a length composed of a train of '0' of a binary signal into a code word having that order which corresponds to an original order of the m-ary digit which means the block in one of two groups and converting each block of that binary coded digit which is associated with a length composed of a train of '1' of said binary signal into a code word having that order which corresponds to the original order of the m-ary digit which means the block in another group.
