An occupant protection device includes a first sensor configured to output vehicle information indicating a traveling state of a vehicle and a situation around the vehicle, a second sensor configured to output occupant information indicating a seating state of an occupant, a stimulus application unit that is to be worn by the occupant and is configured to apply a stimulus to the occupant, and a controller configured to control the stimulus application unit. The controller predicts an impact to be received by the vehicle, determines a stimulus application content by the stimulus application unit necessary for correcting a posture of the occupant to a posture prepared for the impact when the impact is predicted, and activates the stimulus application unit in accordance with the determined stimulus application content and thus corrects the posture of the occupant prior to a timing when the vehicle receives the impact.

An airbag device includes a gas generator including an ignition device, a gas generating agent and a housing and provided with a gas discharge port, a shielding member covering an outside of the housing and moving to a shielding position located in a discharge direction of a combustion gas from the gas discharge port and a non-shielding position not located in the discharge direction of the combustion gas from the gas discharge port, an elastic member disposed between the housing and the shielding member and configured to energize the shielding member to position the shielding member at the shielding position or the non-shielding position in accordance with a magnitude of an external force received by the shielding member, and an airbag bag body disposed in communication with the inside of the housing through the gas discharge port of the gas generator, and accommodating the shielding member and the elastic member.

An airbag device includes a first airbag group and a second airbag group that are disposed in the vehicle seat in correspondence with impacts from two different directions and that respectively include a plurality of airbags; a gas generation unit that is disposed in a seat cushion, of the vehicle seat, that supports the buttocks region of the occupant and that generates gas to be supplied to the first airbag group or the second airbag group; and a switching unit that switches the supply of gas to either the first airbag group or the second airbag group.

A gas generator includes, a housing provided with a gas discharge port, an ignition chamber, accommodating an igniter and a transfer charge, provided on an end portion of the housing, a combustion chamber disposed within the housing and accommodating a gas generating agent, a rupturable closing member partitioning the combustion chamber from the ignition chamber and including a rupturable portion ruptured upon an actuation of the gas generator, and an inner tube extending from the closing member toward the gas discharge port inside the combustion chamber. The inner tube defines outside thereof a space containing the gas generating agent, and defines inside a hollow space. The inner tube is provided with a plurality of through holes. The inner tube includes one end communicating the hollow space with the ignition chamber to transfer the transfer charge in a burning state toward an opposite end when the rupturable portion is ruptured.

A gas generator including an enhancer chamber provided on a first end of a cylindrical housing and including an igniter therein, a diffuser portion formed with a gas discharge port on a second end, a combustion chamber provided between the diffuser portion and the enhancer chamber, the enhancer chamber being an internal space which is axially sandwiched between the igniter and a cup-shaped partition wall, the internal space accommodating therein an enhancing agent, the cup-shaped partition wall including a peripheral wall provided with a peripheral wall body with a plurality of nozzles and an annular portion expanding outwardly from the peripheral wall body, an outer surface of the annular portion abutting against an inner wall surface of the cylindrical housing, a cylindrical gap being formed between the peripheral wall body and the inner wall surface, the nozzles being disposed to face the cylindrical gap, and the cylindrical gap being devoid of the gas generating agent therein.
