A novel olefin production process of the invention can be established as an industrial and practical process of producing an olefin with high selectivity by directly reacting a ketone and hydrogen in a single reaction step. In particular, a novel olefin production process is provided in which propylene is obtained with high selectivity by directly reacting acetone and hydrogen. An olefin production process of the invention includes reacting a ketone and hydrogen at a reaction temperature in the range of 50 to 300&#xb0; C. in the presence of a Cu-containing hydrogenation catalyst and a solid acid substance.

Olefin production process

A novel olefin production process is provided which can be established as an industrial and practical process capable of producing olefins by directly reacting a ketone and hydrogen in a single reaction step. In particular, a novel olefin production process is provided in which propylene is obtained with high selectivity by directly reacting acetone and hydrogen. The olefin production process according to the present invention includes reacting a ketone and hydrogen in the presence of at least one dehydration catalyst and a silver-containing catalyst, and the at least one dehydration catalyst is selected from metal oxide catalysts containing a Group 6 element, zeolites, aluminas and heteropoly acid salts in which part or all the protons in heteropoly acids are exchanged with metal cations.

A method for producing an alkylated aromatic compound includes a step (i) of producing a reaction product (a1) containing the alkylated aromatic compound and water by the reaction of an aromatic compound, a ketone, and hydrogen using a metal component containing at least one metallic element of copper, nickel, cobalt, and rhenium and a solid acid substance; a step (ii) of forming a dehydrated product (a2) from at least a portion of the reaction product (a1) by removing at least a portion of the water in the reaction product (a1); and a step (iii) of producing a reaction product (a3) containing the alkylated aromatic compound by bringing at least a portion of the dehydrated product (a2) into contact with a solid acid substance.

Method for producing alkylated aromatic compound, method for producing cumene, and method for producing phenol

According to a process of the invention, a ketone, an aromatic compound and hydrogen as starting materials are reacted together in a single reaction step to produce an alkylaromatic compound in high yield. A process for producing phenols in the invention includes a step of performing the above alkylation process and does not increase the number of steps compared to the conventional cumene process. The process for producing alkylated aromatic compounds includes reacting an aromatic compound such as benzene, a ketone such as acetone and hydrogen in the presence of a solid acid substance, preferably a zeolite, and a silver-containing catalyst.

Process for producing alkylated aromatic compounds and process for producing phenols

The present invention provides an ion-exchange resin catalyst, as a catalyst for preparing bisphenol from phenol compounds and ketone, which has a higher selectivity to bisphenol and a longer life time, as compared to a conventional ion-exchange resin, and a method for preparing the same. The present invention also provides a method for preparing bisphenol comprising reacting phenol compounds with ketone, wherein the modified acidic ion-exchange resin in which at least one kind of cationic compound selected from the following (a), (b), (c) and (d) ionically binds to an acidic functional group, is used as a catalyst: (a) a quaternary phosphonium ion, (b) a quaternary ammonium ion, (c) a bis(phosphoranylidene) ammonium ion, and (d) an N-substituted nitrogen-containing aromatic cation.

Modified acidic ion-exchange resin and method for preparing bisphenol

The present invention provides a process for producing bisphenol A by reacting phenol with actone, wherein reaction is performed at higher temperatures while maintaining high selectivity, and thus high productivity is obtained. The invention relates to a cation-exchange resin, wherein a cation-exchange group is introduced into a syndiotactic polystyrene polymer and the amount of acid is 0.8 milliequivalent/g or more, to a catalyst comprising the cation-exchange resin, and to a process for producing bisphenol A using a cation-exchange resin catalyst.

Process for producing bisphenol A

Methanol is produced by reacting carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a Raney copper catalyst containing 80 to 99.9 wt. % of copper in a solvent. The catalysts employed in the present invention showed a much higher activity even under the conditions of a low temperature in methanol production, than any of the known catalysts. The process of the methanol production may eliminate necessity for recycling an unreacted synthesis gas into the reaction system, and makes it feasible to conduct methanol synthesis at a lower pressure than conventional processes.

A process for preparation of nitrous oxide, wherein ammonia is reacted with oxygen in the presence of steam using a copper-manganese oxide catalyst having diffraction angles measured by X-ray diffraction analysis of about 36.degree., about 58.degree. and about 64.degree.; a copper-manganese oxide catalyst suitable for the process. The catalyst is highly active and selective, has a long catalyst-lifetime, gives a non-condensable gas comprising nitrogen, oxygen and nitrous oxide which contains nitrous oxide in a high concentration, and is less deteriorative. The catalyst can be used in a process for preparation of nitrous oxide in which formation of NOx as by-products is reduced; and a process for stably recovering nitrous oxide.

This invention relates to a process for preparing acetic acid from carbon noxide gas and hydrogen gas, which process comprises catalytically reacting carbon monoxide gas and hydrogen gas under elevated pressures and in a liquid medium containing a ruthenium compound, cobalt compound and promoter(s).
