Disclosed is an injection molded article made of a resin composition comprising 15 to 40% by mass of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene fibers, and 60 to 85% by mass of a thermoplastic resin having a melt flow rate of 70 to 500 g/10 min. measured at a temperature of 230&#xb0; C. and a load of 21.2 N, and a fusion peak temperature lower than 160&#xb0; C. measured with a differential scanning calorimeter, where the combined mass of the ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene fibers and the thermoplastic resin is taken as 100% by mass, wherein the injection molded article satisfies the following requirements: the intrinsic volume resistivity is 1.0&#xd7;10&#x3a9;&#xb7;cm or more, the thermal conductivity is 1 W/m&#xb7;K or more, and the specific gravity is 1.2 or less. The article is high in rigidity, impact resistance, electrically insulating property, and thermal conductivity.

Disclosed is a resin composition including a thermoplastic resin (A), carbon fibers (B), graphite particles (C), an absorbent (D) selected from the group consisting of calcium hydroxide, zeolite, and hydrotalcite, and an antioxidant (E) or a combination of an antioxidant (E) and a compound (F) selected from a compound group consisting of compounds represented by CH(OH)wherein n represents an integer of 4 or greater, alkoxy forms derived from compounds represented by the following formula (2), trehalose, sucrose, lactose, maltose, melicitose, stachyose, curdlan, glycogen, glucose, and fructose. A production process of an organic fiber-containing polyolefin resin composition includes the step of mixing in a rotary impeller-carrying mixer (1) more than 10 parts by weight to less than 90 parts by weight of an organic fiber, with (2) more than 10 parts by weight to less than 90 parts by weight of a polyolefin resin containing (a) 50 to 100% by weight of polyolefin resin powders passing through a sieve having 2 mm openings, and (b) 0 to 50% by weight of polyolefin resin pellets not passing through a sieve having 2 mm openings and passing through a sieve having 4.75 mm openings.

Process for producing organic fiber-containing polyolefin resin composition

A resin composition includes a fiber and a polyolefin resin and can provide a molded article having excellent mechanical strength such as flexural strength and impact resistance. The resin composition includes (i) a surface-treated fiber (A) which comprises 100 parts by weight of a fiber (A-I) comprising a polyalkylene terephthalate and/or a polyalkylene naphthalene dicarboxylate and 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of a sizing agent (A-II) adhered to the surface of the fiber (A-I), and (ii) a polyolefin resin modified with an unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or an unsaturated carboxylic acid derivative (a modified polyolefin resin (B)) as a resin component.

Disclosed is a fiber/resin composite comprising fibers (A), polypropylene resin (B) and modified polyolefin resin (C), the weight ratio of the polypropylene resin (B) to the modified polyolefin resin (C) being 99.9/0.1 to 60/40, the modified polyolefin resin (C) having a melt flow rate of 30 to 150 g/10 min, the fibers (A) being arranged parallel to each other in one direction, the composite having a length of 2 to 100 mm along the direction in which the fibers (A) are arranged, the fibers (A) having a weight average length equal to the length of the composite, wherein the polypropylene resin (B) is composed of propylene homopolymer segment (B- ) and propylene-ethylene copolymer segment (B- ), the propylene homopolymer segment (B- ) having an isotactic pentad fraction of at least 0.980 and the content of the propylene-ethylene copolymer segment (B- ) in the polypropylene resin (B) being 10 to 40% by weight.
