The edge segment setting unit () sets up edge data for an array of pixel divisions from the coordinates of start and end points of an edge line. The correction unit () shifts the array of pixel divisions on the bases of row of pixel divisions arranged in the scanning line direction by a given number of pixels in the scanning line direction. The contraction unit () calculates the sums of edge data of pixel divisions within the pre-shift range of the array of pixel divisions on the basis of row of pixel divisions and stores the sums in a column of contracted pixels having a width equal to one pixel division in the scanning line direction. The adjacent pixel adding unit () adds the values of the pixel divisions protruding from the pre-shift range of the array of pixel divisions to the column of contracted pixels of the pixel adjacent in the protruding direction. The first mask generation unit () generates mask data indicating the fill according to the array of contracted pixels. The occupancy rate calculation unit () adds the respective products of the mask data and contracted pixels while shifting a matrix of weighting coefficients to calculate the fill occupancy rate.

A vector image drawer comprises: an outline definer, a divider, an outline flag setter, a filler, and a continue flag setter. The outline definer defines outline data for indicating a start pixel and an end pixel of a filling along each scanning line of a drawing region. The divider divides the drawing region into an m&#xd7;n matrix of drawing subregions. The outline flag setter sets an outline flag for indicating a presence of the outline data for each of the drawing subregions. The filler performs a fill processing for drawing subregions in a case where a continue flag is set for an adjacent drawing subregions and the outline flag is set for each of the drawing subregions. A continue flag setter sets the continue flag for each of the scanning line, whether a filling continues into an adjacent drawing subregion.

A metal vapor discharge lamp having a highly reliable sealed portion. The lamp has an arc tube including a discharge portion of translucent ceramic in which a discharge metal is filled and a pair of electrodes is disposed; small tubular portions coupled to both ends of the discharge portion; feeder bodies inserted into the small tubular portions; and a sealing material sealing the gap between the feeder body and the small tubular portion at the end portion opposite to the discharge portion. The end of the small tubular portions and the inner surface of the discharge portion define a discharge space. The feeder bodies are composed of a conductive cermet and connected to the electrodes. The ends of the feeder bodies extend at least to the ends of the small tubular portions. The temperature of the end of the sealing material on the discharge space side during the lamp operation is not more than 800&deg; C.

Metal vapor discharge lamp having cermet lead-in with improved luminous efficiency and flux rise time

A high-intensity discharge lamp includes an arc tube having a pair of main electrodes, a starting circuit having a thermally-actuated switch for disconnecting the starting circuit, and an outer tube for containing the arc tube and the starting circuit, and the lamp is lighted by means of a reactance ballast. The thermally-actuated switch includes an envelope bulb that covers contacts of the thermally-actuated switch. Thereby, occurrence of sustained arc discharge in the outer tube is prevented in the case of a starting failure or a break-off of the arc tube at the end of the lamp's life.

High-intensity discharge lamp

A metal halide lamp comprises a pair of electrodes and a discharge vessel filled with at least one metal halide comprising at least one rare earth metal halide, halogen in excess of the stoichiometry of the metal halide(s), mercury, and a rare gas. The amount of the mercury is between 7.7 mg/cc and 9.9 mg/cc, the excess halogen is 25-100% (in terms of atoms) of the halogen included in the metal halide(s), and the rated tube power for 200V rated tube voltage is 2000 W-3000 W.
